Unable to repair under warranty - respond

Shower Leak Estimate Plumber came and inspected the work to be done. Charged us 55$ thru First American Homebuyers program. Found out that the problem is soemething they cannot cover under the warranty. What sucks is I lose 55$ for simply having this guy come over and visually check something. Anyways, the guy said if it was done outside warranty would cost over 200$. I said forget it and just hired a friend.
