    New shingles

Had Cornell roofing do our home in May, 2008, it is now April, 2017 and the shingles are starting to fall off due to shoddy workmanship. They used a nail gun and didn't even care where they put the nails, certainly not on the tar strip where it is supposed to be nailed.

    Roof

I am not one to post on these sites, but after reading the reviews I thought I should add my two cents. Here is what we experienced with Cornell Roofing. The guys were super nice and very respectful of our home. They work very well together and you don’t see any of the cliche stereotypes (g n’r blaring out of the truck, smoking on the job, swearing throughout their drunken stories). They did a wonderful job on the roof and we have one challenging roof. We also put in three skylights which they flashed beautifully. And this is exactly what I expected from a man who has been in the business for 19 years. Could they be better in returning the calls? Of course. But with the nightmare stories I have heard from friends about contractors shoddy work, incomplete jobs, small claims court, skipping town with deposits, I was more than happy to wait to hear from Mike. Mike is a very honest man but he could probably use a full time personal secretary. However if you are looking for a local contractor that is honest, affordable, trustworthy and is going to do a really great job, they are definitely worth the wait.

    Roofing job

Mike at Cornell Roofing is one the worst person I have ever met. He quoted my roofing job back in January 2015 for $52,000.00 and received roughly $30,000.00 from me and said that he needed all this to order the shingles. I was sceptical after reading the bad reviews, but he convinced me that he is very reliable. Then he started the job sometime in April 2015, and I started noticing that he is never at our lot, when the weather was nice. However he will complain that it is raining and blame mother nature. As he finished some of the flat roof and the shingles, we were forced to pay another $9000.00 and after that I have only seen him and his crew on and off at the site and to this day (August 6, 2015) my roof is not done. The rain has caused so much damage to my property. We have been calling him and no response. Please read the reviews other people had posted, because they are so true. The good reviews he has gotten are not real. I now had to get another company to finish the job and I was unable to finish my interior finishes to this day. He has poor customer service and doesn't know how to treat his customers. If I call him to finish my job, he will say "not to micromanage him." I am taking him to court for all the damages he has done to my property. He will tell you not to believe the reviews. Trust me, he doesn't tell the truth. He will also tell you that he has won the people's choice award. Really???? You are better off getting another roofing company. I suggest that you check the references or get a company through a referral source. He has caused me so much hardship and headaches. I repeat, he doesn't know how to speak the truth. Do not believe any of the word he is saying to you. On another note, he thinks that he knows everything and even if their shingle job is bad, they won't fix it. Mike and his crew will tell you to sleep on it and look at the roof the next day. Who would do that???? Radhika

    Roof Repair

Cornell shingled my mansard roof in Oct 2010. Several weeks ago I noticed that some shingles had fallen out and slid down into my eavestrough exposing the roof deck. With rain in the forecast I realized this repair should be done sooner rather than later to avoid more serious damage and higher repair cost. After contacting Cornell several times I got a return call requesting exact address so they could repair the damage on Monday. To make a long story short nobody showed up on Monday and despite many additional calls and emails Cornell did not return my calls or respond to emails. Two weeks later after having another company repair the damage I've still not heard from Cornell. The company making the repairs reported that whoever installed the shingles had not nailed them down in the proper spot and that was the reason why they came down. Poor quality installation and no response for followup service. I would definitely not recommend this company or ever hire them to do any work in the future.

Roof repair due to wind damage

My roof was damaged in a windstorm. I called Cornell and they were on the scene within hours. The cost was reasonable. They were pleasant to deal with. I was happy with the whole interaction. I'll definitely use them again when it comes time to redo the whole roof.

    New roof

While installing a new roof Cornell damaged my new deck lighting. Mike agreed to pay for a new light. He hasn't paid and it is impossible to reach him or anyone at Cornell Roofing.

    Roof repair

I am not one for reviews, but I had to write this one today. My husband and I cannot thank Mike from Cornell Roofing enough for ringing our doorbell this morning to inform us that there was a large hole in our roof due to a strong windstorm last night (nov 24). His crew were back within an hour and a half and fixed the roof. They were amazing! Thank you Mike and team for your quick response to a situation that could have been so much worse!

    Roof Installation

Cornell Roofing has replaced our roof in year 2008. Recently when we decided to do additional attic insulation we noticed that the hose coming from the bathroom fan was just sitting in the attic and wasn't connected to anything. This means that all moister was coming to the attic during all these years. We found out that a vent wasn't even installed and the hole in the plywood was blocked by shingle. At the time of the roof installation my wife mentioned to Mike that a vent was found on the ground. He replied that this is extra one and she didn't need to worry about it. When I called Mike in April of this year and explained to him the situation he told me that would come. I was waiting day after day, then week after week and couldn't reach him. Mike would not respond. We have 10 years of warranty for the roof but people like Mike would not hold his word and the warranty. With the company like Cornell Roofing warranty means nothing. I had to hire another company to repair the damage. I would never deal again with this irresponsible company.

    shingles

Hi Cornell Roofing last year you had re shingled my roof in Cornell. I had requested that the eavestroff be fixed to keep the water draining on our roof. Cole has called me and has ensured me they will fix the eavestroff. Very happy with their customer service.

    Service

Cornell Roofing replaced our roof in 2008 and gave us a 10 year workmanship warranty. When high winds of Nov 17, 2013 knocked a large strip of shingles off our roof I called Cole to outline our problem. Due to severe weather for the next six weeks they were unable to make the repair. The first break of weather on Jan 4/14 Cole cleared ice and snow off the roof until he located the problem. He then replaced the shingles and promised to return in the early spring to do a complete roof inspection. Fabulous effort in the severe conditions.
