    Built-in cabinets and mini-bar in rec room

    My husband and I met with Dean Jackson after reading all the fantastic 10-star reviews he has on Home Stars. He listened to what we had in mind for built-in cabinets and a mini-bar for our basement, and made excellent suggestions to improve the design from there. His quote was competitive, and the quality of work in his portfoliio was far superior to that of the other contractors with whom we met. Dean shows up when he says he will, and delivers on timelines as promised. When we emailed him with a design change we thought of well into the process and apologized for not thinking of it sooner, Dean's response was "My job is simply to help you realize your vision for this room, and I consider it a pleasure". He tweaked his design as we asked and we could not be happier with the end result. We will definitely be working with Dean on upcoming projects and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

    Custom floating shelving

    My husband and I were searching for a carpenter to tackle the fireplace wall in our living room for quite a while. We stumbled upon Dean Jackson, and his phenomenal reviews, on Homestars. We called him instantly, to which he promptly replied. Dean arrived on time, with his portfolio in hand, ready to tackle the job. The end result is perfect! He created eight floating shelves to house our stereo equipment, books and photos. I couldn't be more pleased with his meticulous work, commitment to timelines, and easy-going disposition. Dean is a pleasure to work with and a true talent. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Thanks Dean!

    Vanity Top and Cupboard Shelves

    Dean is a real artist and a pleasure to deal with. Dean takes pride in his work, is professional, and produces exceptional customized pieces. He impressed me and my family; and although my project is not yet finished, we are already getting compliments on our oak vanity top. And I love to point out the extra care and detail that he put into our linen closet shelves. Thank you Dean, if we decide to get more custom work done, you will be our first choice!

    Custom Island

    I was renovating my kitchen and had found a picture of an island design that I fell in love with. Dean not only replicated it, he shared significant input on how to make it even more amazing. It is the most beautiful piece of furniture in my house now and everyone who sees it is astonished. Even my husband, who really couldn't have cared one way or the other prior, was flabbergasted when he saw it. Not only the incredible workmanship, Dean's quote came in very competitively against four others. I will post a picture soon!

    Custom-built shelving, cabinetry, and a bench

    Dean's work is exemplary and beautiful. In viewing his portfolio, where he shows more traditional pieces, please note that he does modern as well (such as our home). Dealing with Dean is a sheer delight. He is courteous, consistent and a good communicator. He worked well with our designer, to the point that I left for work and left them to their planning, fully trusting that he would deliver on the plans. We recommend him very highly for any custom wood design job you may have.

    custom made furniture

    Dean built us our dining room table, computer work stations, entertainment unit and a wall unit. He custom matched the black finish from our china cabinet to our tables. His work was excellent and installation was exacting and always done in a timely fashion.

    Furniture design, construction and refinishing

    We have been frequent return customers of Dean Jackson Custom Wood Designs for more than 10 years. Dean has designed and built a desk, a bed, a curio cabinet, two libraries and refinished a dining room suite plus miscellaneous other pieces of furniture. When the woodwork of a 1912 piano was severely damaged by careless movers, Dean brought it back to perfect condition. He has more than satisfied us on every job. He has given our house a distinctive look in which we take great pride and our guests never fail to comment on the eye-catching quality and look of his work. Dean is open and easy to talk to. Working with him is always a constructive dialogue of our ideas and his ideas that results in a product that exceeds our expectations every time. His university degree in fine arts combined with his great craft skills give him a vision and power of execution that put him a cut above everyone else. On the job, Dean is a clean and careful workman and has never damaged our houses in any way. He delivers on time and takes great personal pride in all his work. For us, there’s just nobody else.

    Getting to know my clients over a long period of time and a number of projects is one of the things that makes my job so rewarding. It also makes it easier to design for them, as I get to know their style and preferences. Pat and Doug are very particular about their finishes, so I prepare stain samples wherever possible, or match colours to their existing furniture. I'm happy with the finished product only when they are.

    Reception Desk

    We were looking for someone to build and design our reception desk in our new office and of course we were in a rush. We contacted Dean Jackson and his professionalism, workmanship and timeliness was exceptional. We have since had Dean do additional work in our office and will continue to do so in the future.

    Although the majority of my work is residential, I occasionally work on commercial projects as well. Boardroom tables, reception desks, and store fixtures are just a few examples. Some of this work is referred through interior designers, and some by existing clients. Whatever the project, I do my best to ensure the work is done on time, and delivered to the client's satisfaction.
