Read reviews online. Family business for so many years because any ethical employees have likely left. Their business model is the opposite of other movers: "Overpromise and underdeliver." An owner came out to provide his "estimate" for our small local move from a 2-bedroom condo. He saw everything in this simple, elevator-assisted move. His estimate was higher than the others but we were impressed by his professionalism. Then it turned awful. At the end, I'm on the phone pleading with a nasty staff member who tried to bully me into the $1000 extra cost. When I escalated the issue, I have not been spoken to like that as a 55-year old professional in my adult life. I paid their extortion to get her to stop. I always tip service people but had to mitigate my losses by not tipping the movers. When I stated my shock at how I was treated, Becky's reply before she hung up on me was: "Welcome to the world of moving." We've moved dozens of times and have never had such an awful experience. Stay away.

This company was very professional and very efficient. We moved from Surrey to Langley. The crew of 3 worked hard all day with a smile on their face. Everything arrived and was in good shape. I would recommend them to others. Sue and John Scott

We recently moved from North Van to Victoria and hired La Porte after getting 3 estimates. It was a big move requiring 2 trucks and it was handled efficiently and professionally. They were very careful with our furniture and belongings and there was no damage to anything. The only down side is that we were paying by the pound and our stuff must have been really heavy as their estimate was $4500 and it ended up costing $6300. Other than that, we were very happy with their services and would recommend them.

We packed all the small stuff carefully in suitable boxes but Laporte handled all furniture. They managed to damage almost all the furniture to some degree - even to tearing the doors off one cabinet. Little of the damage was acknowledged at delivery and further damaging repairs were actually tried.

Poor / no comunication after you make the poor decision of using this outfit. Boxes were damaged, some (10) boxes were gone, outright missing. not delivered.How does this happen, you're supposed to be a moving company? Can't seem to speak to anyone at Laporte about this issue. They are all experts at doing the phone tap dance, until you get fed-up and quit. Jessie Laporte is always AWOL

Terrible company, terrible service. Charged us for 750 cu. ft and yet we only have 450 cu. ft of goods. Have acknowledged the overcharge (have all documentation to prove it), yet still have not paid us our money back. We have chased them over a dozen times, yet still no action on their part. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

LaPorte moving was great. They were friendly, helpful, and professional. The crew of three arrived on time and worked hard throughout the day. They helped to make a stressful move much easier. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Thanks LaPorte -- You made a long day seem not too bad. The three movers that took us from old door to new door were great. They even had a sense of humor! Even though one of the pieces of furniture had to go out a bedroom window and down one storey to the truck, the guys got us out on schedule for the new owners to move in on time.

Expensive but great service. Excellent movers and packers (even with a sense of humor!) The guys were really helpful. Moved within Vancouver.
