I thought going with a reputable company like Merry Maids would be good. A nice lady came to my house to go through my concerns and look around in order to provide a quote. I have a cat, and so cat hair was a concern. Each cleaning, I pointed out issues... they charged twice as much for the first "deep" clean, which took the same amount of time as the following visits... and frankly weren't any better. The concerns I had were never addressed in my opinion. Base boards, lamps shades, fridge, shelves and blinds were all missed on the first clean. The shower wasn't done well -- their reason, the product they use won't clean as well, so we'd have to live with that... the floor cleaner left the hardwood looking streaked and worse than before they cleaned... one week, they missed and entire room, which they denied, so I was in the house for the next cleaning, and the girl said "oh, the door was shut so I didn't realize it was a room"... and their last cleaning I found some of my daughter's breakfast (oatmeal) still on the kitchen tile, there was cat hair still (they said it was too much to remove), tile in the foyer hadn't been washed (there was obvious dirt that I could easily wipe up). Took them a week to respond -- oh, sorry, we'll try to do better next time. Oh, I should mention that they have someone come and "inspect", but she's not really looking if she's missing all these things. Not doing the job right, or trying to make it right... really wasn't impressed. Even when I said, I didn't think I wanted to continue, since the issues were never getting addressed, they just said "ok. we'll take you off the list". Overall, it worked out to much more $$ than other quotes, for a very poor job, and even worse customer service.
