Front Door Installation

In November of 2010 I had contracted with Torwin to execute a replacement on my front door. Although there was some communication issues, the job was completed with high quality and on the right cost.

Recently Torwin did a service replacement on part of my storm door - it was done really quickly, and they waived any service charges. They did a lot to improve my view of their customer service, and I would heartily recommend them for another job.

As everyone is aware there is always two sides to every story. Torwin was very accommodating to your needs and we did our very best to expedite the situation because of the sensitive nature of your situation-the break in. When we called you to schedule your installation, which we coordinated to have your product done RUSH with the manufacturer because of the break in, you told us you were going away on vacation and would not be back for the week we wanted to install. We then had your door installation scheduled for the day after you got back from your vacation. We made you aware that although your front door would be installed that day, we unfortunately could not have your storm door installed the same day and our installer would have to come back, at which time you opted to wait and have everything done at once and that would be at a later date. At the top of your contract the lead-time, which is in writing, states 5-8 weeks, not 4 weeks. Whenever we do an installation, we tell the homeowner that we will be there between 8-10 am. We give the homeowner a window of time just to ensure that: a) they know what time to expect us b) we give our installer’s enough time to get there with traffic or weather conditions. This does not mean that the job will take 2 hours by any means. The work you had done was done with a high of craftsmanship and quality by a certified carpenter. By attempting to finish the job in one day or into the evening, by which time it was extremely dark, for the sake of “respecting your time” may have affected the overall outcome and aesthetic appeal of your door, which Torwin would not sacrifice for the sake of finishing in 5 hours. Most homeowners are relieved to know that they are dealing a company like this. As well, we understand that you had to make arrangements to work from home, however many homeowners trust us to be there without supervision. We almost always have the homeowner’s keys and are there without them home. Many homeowners do not take time off work for us to be there. We are a company that does not sacrifice quality for time. We did forget the deadbolt on the storm door upon the order, which we apologized for. This was easily corrected as we picked one up the next day and rectified the situation ASAP. You mentioned that we were not respectful of your time, but we did have you into the office on two occasions, for two separate meetings, that we arranged around your schedule, which ultimately took time away from sales meetings. We are a company that has been in business for 22 years and never, in all our years of business, have we had such a hard time with a consumer. By no means do we blame you, but the miscommunication on both ends, created the situation we are faced with now with your quite unfair review of our company. We pride ourselves on having premium products and excellent service. We were extremely accommodating with your situation, including your payment method, which we were truly over understanding about and do not regularly do for our customers. Please feel free to contact us. We would be open to discussing this with you further, as we do not want your Torwin experience to be in any way negative.

Window and door installation, including knockout for bay window

We were researching companies to do a major overhaul on our home. Although our home is fairly new, the quality of the windows and doors was definitely builder's grade. We wanted to improve the energy efficiency and curb appeal of our home, so we contacted a few companies. From the very beginning we trusted Torwin. Their sales team and support team really educated us on the decisions we had to make and at the end of the day, they gained our trust and buyer's confidence. We went with them for the entire house and could not be more satisfied. Although their showroom was in Markham, we are over the moon with the quality and craftsmanship of their products and installation. From start to finish they delivered a job well done and when we go to sell this house and buy another, we will definitely choose Torwin for our next home renovation. Thanks for a job well done!

window installation

I was quite satisfied with the job Torwin did with replacing the windows of our house. The sliders on the single-hung windows work quite well and I appreciate the automatic locking when the windows are in closed position. The cranks on the casements are also good. Martin, the main installer was very professional and concerned about customer satisfaction so when I mentioned that the caulking job around one of the windows wasn't the best, he promptly fixed this. The only concern I have about the job was that when the original estimation was given, I was told that any pieces of trim around the windows that needed to be installed would be but this was not done. I didn't even think to mention anything about this until after the workers had finished--it would seem that they thought a good paint job would fix the problem. That ended up costing an additional $1400 in carpentry work so that's definitely something to consider before replacing your windows, or something to inquire about at every stage of your window replacement.

Replacement of all windows and doors.

I contracted Torwin to replace all our windows and doors. The workmanship was excellent. Based on comparative quotes from other suppliers, Torwin provided the best value. I've recommended Torwin to everyone I know who were considering work on Windows. My neighbour had Torwin come in a re-flash all his windows, even though his windows had been replaced by another contractor a few years earlier. He saw the quality of our installation and had to have this for himself.

Window knock-out & replacement

I have had a window knock-out and replacement (with a door) job. The owner was very helpful with explanations, ideas and advises. On the contrary the installer cut an electrical wire when he did the knock-out and left half a living room plus a bathroom without electrical power. He left the wire inside the wall and finished his job. I asked him not to put the door trimmings when he was done as I had to do the wire re-routing in the near future. So he added only a few nails on trimming. I called the Handy Man Connection company and they re-route the wire. After that I called Torwin again to come and attach the trimmings for good and they said they would not come unless we pay for that.At the end we didn't pay more (but it took a while) and the door looks fantastic now.
