One of the good ones

Furnace repair and cleaning My 14 year old furnace conked out late spring and I thought I should get it fixed and cleaned before the snow came! After calling three other companies on this site, twice each, with no response, I called Peter. He called me back in 10 minutes and we made an appointment. He called to confirm, showed up on time, called twice with updates on the problem (I had to leave for work), drove to Markham to get parts and finished the job by noon. As a new homeowner, he also gave me tips on how to keep it running properly. His card is in my "home binder" for future reference and I would recommend this company to anyone.

THERMTECH WAS GREAT

DUCTLESS A/C INSTALLATION The crew at thermtech did a great ductless ac installation. Peter and his crew were polite, fast, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. In fact they went out of their way to make sure they didn't make a mess in the first place. The price was reasonable & they came on time and finished early. I would strongly recommend them for hvac jobs. In fact, i'm looking to replace my gas boiler/piping for a more efficient/compact system. Most likely, I will use Thermtech again for that. Keep up the good work!

Highly Impressed

A/C and Humidifier Installation Peter and Steve from Therm Tech installed my A/C unit and humidifier. Perhaps a simple job for experts like these two gentlemen, but what impressed me most was their great customer service, quality work and even cleanliness. You can tell they take pride in their craft and are genuine, hard working and honest individuals. If I ever need to hire them again, I'll definitely do it in a heartbeat. I really can't say enough.

After seeing Therm Tech from the show SARA'S HOUSE ON HGTV,
While considering ducting solutions for basement renos,I Called Peter after reading Homestars reviews,and the show ,he immediately lived up to the positive comments with a prompt and courteous site visit with an honest review of the situation. A new furnace was installed by the end of the next day. I was very impressed with the skills and work ethic of Rob and Steve, making sure everything was done right. The custom adapters to the new furnace were fabricated in their shop from Peter's measurements and fit perfectly. It was an easy decision to have them redo my ducting. It was a huge effort with lots of custom work, but they maintained their diligence throughout the job and I am very happy with the results. I would recommend these guys to anyone without hesitation, no matter what size of project. They know what they are doing and it shows. ”

Unable to diagnose problem.

Lennox furnace repair I didn't deal with Peter, but with someone else from ThermTech (possibly Steve?). I have to give kudos to ThermTech, because their rep came to my home in the middle of a snowstorm to check out my Lennox G26 furnace. My furnace was no longer automatically turning on consistently and so my house was 14 degrees. Sometimes if I turned off the power and turned it back again it would work, but unfortunately it wasn't reliable. Eventually it would just stay off and not come back on, until I flipped the power switch off and on again several times.

ThermTech's tech came over in the peak of the snowstorm. He was polite and checked out the furnace. He cleaned out the hoses and checked the connections. He wasn't entirely sure what was wrong, but luckily the furnace worked after that. He charged me the usual diagnosis fee (which was less than $100), but nothing extra. However, the next morning the furnace didn't come on. ThermTech came back to rediagnose it for no charge. I asked about the ignition control module because I had read online that it was a known problem with these Lennox units, but the ThermTech tech assured me it was working fine. Again the unit worked after he replaced one part but again it stopped working the next morning. I believe it was after another visit he essentially gave up on the unit. His advice was just to turn up the heat on the thermostat, which of course didn't solve the problem.

I called another company, and basically over the phone, he diagnosed the likely problem to be the ignition control unit, which the ThermTech tech had assured me was fine. The rep from the other company came over, confirmed the Johnson Controls Intermittent Pilot Ignition Control unit to be the problem, and replaced the unit. My furnace has worked perfectly since then.

I have given ThermTech a 6 because they tried hard and although came to visit several times (including once in the middle of a big snowstorm) and even did some work changing one part (and changing it back to the old one after it was clear it didn't solve the problem), but they only charged me the initial diagnosis fee which was less than $100. However, they lost 4 points from me because they were unable to diagnose the problem, even after I asked specifically about the problem part.

I also note that the other reviews here are universally positive, about Peter. I did not deal with Peter and that may be the problem. Peter was away when I called ThermTech, so I got somebody else. Overall ThermTech gets a 6 out of 10 for me for trying hard and not charging me much, but ultimately failing to solve the problem.

Therm Tech is our company of choice

Furnace replacement Peter & crew are extremely professional, reliable and honest. We had used Therm tech for our business (A/C) several times so when our 30yr old furnace died on the coldest weekend in January, they were at our home the Monday morning ready to go. They were ontime, very courteous, cleaned up, and saved us. What struck me was Peter called me to make sure I was completely satisfied, and came back to check that everything was working the way it should. These guys know what it takes to build client loyalty. The price is fair - no need to haggle - and they can be trusted to do a great job without any hassle to owner,...i highly recommend them. We will use them for any HVAC needs we ever have again.

old school ethics!!!

new furnace, A/c and hot water tank Talk about old school customer service and professionalism!!! I reside in historic unionville and experienced a home owners' nightmare..the furnace keeled over on a freezing cold night!!! I was referred to Peter of Thermtec, not only did he see me the very next morning, he had a new furnace installed by 9pm that same day!!! Now try to get prompt service like that from a big box store!!! Good luck!!! Price wise, worth every penny!!!

Professional and Reliable

Furnace Repair On one of the coldest days this year our furnace decided to call it quits. With a family of two very young children we needed to fix the situation as soon as possible. We were referred to Peter by a friend and we were thankful for that. We explained the situation over the phone to him and he had diagnosed the problem right away and knew which part needed replacement. Within hours he had picked up the part and had come down to East York from Markham in a snowstorm (Now here is a person dedicated to his profession) God Bless him. Therm Tech has been the most professional H & A Co. that we have dealt with and we would definately use them again.

Peter from Therm Tech performed exceptionally

New furnace One very cold evening my furnace made a loud bang noise and stopped working.
A freind reccomended Peter from Therm Tech.I called Peter very late at night.Peter came with in 30 min and diagnosed the situation.Peter left me with some portable heaters for the rest of the night and returned early in the morning with his staff to install a new top of the line furnace.Peter gave me a great price on my new furnace also gave me excellent service very reliable.Therm Tech did an excellent job on my furnace I would definatley reccomend Therm Tech to any one who wants fair prices and good service.
