We reviewed several contractors before choosing Home Vision to install our siding and do our roofing. We were especially thankful to have their expertise when they removed the old coverings and discovered that we had rotten fascia and soffits that needed repair prior to installation of the siding. They did a great job and we are very pleased with the results. They used the right materials for the job, were friendly, and did a great job of cleaning up at the end of each work day. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I have used Jordan on multiple occasions during the course of our home renovation adventures. He is always quick to respond, friendly, and great to work with. Most recently, we used him to replace our outdated ceiling pot lights with LED puck lights, and add a dedicated outlet for a freezer in our basement. We have previously used him when we wanted to add additional outlets and a closet light fixture in our bedroom reno. He is punctual, always does a great job, cleans up after himself, and is reasonably priced. We would not hesitate to recommend him for any project, big or small.

We hired Dynasty Renovation to remove the basement floor of our century home, bringing the uneven 2" thick cracked concrete flooring up to 4" thick leveled flooring. We looked at at least three other concrete companies before deciding on Dynasty. My specifications were to remove the existing flooring and enough of the sand underneath, put in 2" of 3/4" crushed gravel, and then 4" of level concrete over 250sqft. One contractor wanted up to $25k for the job, another told me I didn't need any gravel under the concrete and that the existing sand was fine (not what I asked for), and the third did not seem to have experience with doing this sort of work in basements. Dynasty actually offered to go one step further, by providing 4" of crushed gravel, and a vapour barrier under the concrete. Luke was fantastic to work with, communicated the schedule of payments and provided invoices for each payment, and even communicated when there was a day's delay because one of their workers called in sick. They were very good about taping up plastic to protect the walls during the demolition and pouring of the new material, and Luke even mopped the entry area to the basement after the job was complete. Overall, their guys worked really hard and got the job done in a short amount of time, which was awesome. Once the concrete had dried, we engaged Dynasty again to fill in along the walls, where the leveling of the floor had left a difference in height from the original flooring. While this was initially discussed at the outset, it required a return visit once the concrete had dried and was an additional charge that we were willing to pay in order to make the job complete. The only negative was that one of the workmen had cleaned his tools outside in the alleyway, which left dried concrete on the walkway that we share with our neighbour. I have cleaned it up myself, but it could have been prevented with a bit more care. Overall, we are very happy with Luke and his team's workmanship. I would not hesitate to recommend Dynasty, and intend to consider them for other future projects. Thanks Dynasty!

We had just finished getting the majority of our basement renovation completed, and needed to find a drywaller to finish the work. It appears that drywallers are hard to find during a pandemic. We ended up with two quotes. The first quote seemed reasonable, but then the contractor never replied to our emails to schedule a start time. The second quote was from Dave, who came in under the price for the first quote, was extremely responsive, including letting us know right away when he could put us in the schedule, was flexible when we ran into an issue with an inspection, put down drop sheets and paper inside to protect the floor (even though it was just concrete ), and even offered to spray down the walkway outside for us, where there was some dust from the drywall work. He even used a sweeping compound, like they use in schools, to keep the dust down as they worked. His work was great with a lot of attention paid to details and how to put drywall around our furnace area where there are a lot of pipes, etc. It was a pleasure to work with him and his crew. I have no hesitation in recommending him for any future jobs.

This has been the third time I have used Umbrella Waterproofing for work. Every time I have been very pleased with their work. The first time, they waterproofed the outside of our rental property and upgraded the water service to 3/4" from 1/2". The second time, I was having some issues with cement cracking around a door frame at a basement walkout. Vlad came out and agreed to waterproof and insulate the retaining wall and the landing outside of the door. The following year, after it was clear that the water that had been seeping into the concrete around the door frame had dried up, I called him back and his team not only repaired the door frame, but also redid the old and cracking laundry and furnace room floor for me, along with fixing several plumbing issues at the same time. Their guys work incredibly hard and they do good work. I trust Vlad's expert advice on waterproofing and plumbing. Bohdana is great at keeping in touch and ensuring that everything is organized so we knew when we could get started on our projects which had a number of moving parts to them. Overall, I'm very happy with the work they have done and look forward to working with them again for the next project.

We had a tough situation where our basement foundation had been damaged due to water infiltration, requiring the repair of concrete surrounding the basement walkout door. The door had to be removed and reinstalled after the work was done. I called several companies, but all of them pretty much wanted to sell me a new door. My existing door cost me several thousand dollars, so I wasn't about to replace it. I was able to get the door out myself, but reinstallation after the work was done was something that required a pro. I was referred to Igor at Window Experts who asked me for some pictures, and was able to send out a couple of his guys to do the reinstallation of the door pretty much as soon as the foundation repair work was done. The guys got right to work and were good about answering my questions and concerns. I'm glad I didn't attempt to install it myself, as it took them a while to get the door level and plumb and install all the material surrounding the door. It feels so good to have a door that actually opens and closes properly again, with no effort whatsoever. I'm very happy with the work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them in the future.

We had several quotes to replace the roof on the front of our house and the flat roof on the back. While Eclipse was among the more expensive options, their specialization in flat roofing, and the attention to detail paid when Eduart came out to quote us on the work was what made us go with them. They arrived, got the work done quickly, and were gone before I was even home from work. The job looked amazing. The architectural shingles were a nice step up from what I had before too. Fast forward a year and a half later - I noticed during a severe thunderstorm that my eavestrough appeared to be leaking. On further examination, there was a piece of flashing missing down the side of the fascia, where the eavestrough was attached. After a quick call, Eclipse sent Geni to the site to take a look and confirm the issue. Sure enough, the water was getting behind the eavestrough because the flashing was missing. After a short follow up discussion where I noted that this was an obvious oversight, Geni came back the next day after our discussion, and added the missing flashing. I'm very impressed by Eclipse's quality of installation, their customer service, their promptness at addressing issues, and willingness to see their customers happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

We used Homestars to search for a roofing contractor to replace our 20 year old roof that was falling apart. We had several quotes, but picked Three Bros Squirrels, not only because they were the cheapest of the quotes that we received, but they were using good quality materials, had good reviews here, and were available to start work quickly, even with the current COVID lockdown. Greg called me and after some discussion about the details a date was set. Work was done as agreed, and they did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. The roof looks 100 times better than it did before, and has weathered several severe rainstorms so far with no signs of leaks or other issues. Thanks!

Tony came and gave us an estimate to pour a new bench footing, and close up an old window as a part of our basement renovation. He was able to start work a couple days later, his guys were on time and got the work done quickly. The results look good and Tony was very prompt about responding to emails and calls. He even coordinated with our framer to make sure the footing was to the necessary specifications for the walls. Overall, we are very pleased with the work done.

I cannot thank Laara and Andy enough for their patience, understanding, and flexibility when it came to my sprayfoam project. They offered to help do demolition and put up new drywall, accommodate changes to the scope of the project, and were happy to reschedule and work with me when other issues were found that delayed the project by several weeks. Their installer, Stefan, arrived on site on time, and was professional with his work and neat and tidy. Both Laara and their installer, Stefan, helped allay any concerns I had about the spray foaming process. This is a top notch company with people who obviously care a great deal about what they do and the customers they do it for, and it shows.

After starting on an insulation project for my house, we discovered that the ceiling in the upstairs of my house had asbestos in the original plaster work. Genny came out and gave me a quote for the work, which, while not the cheapest, met the provincial standards for abatement of this type of material (something quotes from other contractors didn't include), and ensured that the rest of the house would not be contaminated with asbestos. The work was done on a tight timeline, and Genny even came in in the very early hours of the final day to get an air sample before my next contractors arrived, so we could start work as soon as possible. They were thorough in their analysis and work, and did an excellent job cleaning up everything after the job was completed. While I hope I don't have to deal with more asbestos, I would definitely recommend them.

Due to a busy work schedule, I was unable to be onsite to meet with Tony, however he came out and looked at my chimney, and then sent me an estimate that was almost half of what I had been quoted by two other contractors. I hired them to do the work, and their workmen were onsite and working away first thing in the morning on the agreed date. The job was finished in a day, and they came back the very next day to tend to some minor details (such as reattaching an antenna I had attached to the chimney). They were efficient, friendly, did excellent work, and did not require me to take any time out of my busy work schedule to do anything. Much appreciated. I will be using them for more masonry work in the future.

I recently purchased a house and discovered that there was dampness in the basement, seeping up from under the floor near the back wall. I called several contractors, who gave me all sorts of different advice and prices (the highest was $25k for a repair!), and eventually called Mud Monkeys, based on the recommendations here on Homestars. Darby came out and looked at the wall, and was quickly able to determine what the problem was. His quote was quite reasonable and the fact that his work was guaranteed made it very appealing, in the event that the first fix didn't solve the issue. He was familiar with the type of soil and drainage in my area, and even pointed out why a cracked step in my basement walkout may have occurred. It has now been about a month since the work was done, and there has been no more moisture in the area since the work was done. They were there every day and did an amazing job of cleaning up after each day's work. I'm very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Mud Monkeys to others.
