Brooklyn Kitchen & Bathroom - Cabinets & Design
In 1899 the New York Times published an article titled "The Largest Kitchen in the World". King George IV ordered the kitchen built at Windsor Castle in 1828, with a heating table alone that measured fourteen by nine feet, the size of many contemporary kitchens. Cabinets needed to hold china and silverware service to manage service for the 113,000 people who were fed each year at Windsor Castle, long before microwaves, dishwashers, and hot running water were commonplace. While modern kitchen cabinetmakers and designers rarely undertake projects of such majesty and grand proportion, they do work with homeowners on a variety of design features, including whether to choose granite counter tops, the flow of design for utility and purpose when cooking, and a host of other issues.
