Whether you choose slate, pounded copper, granite, or quartz--yes, quartz--for your counter top installation, kitchen and bathroom counter tops are a focal point. The average kitchen counter top is set at 36 inches; any other height requires custom kitchen cabinets, an important detail when renovating or installing to make a kitchen ADA-compliant, or for making the room accessible to all. Bathroom counters tend to be set at 30 inches, although recent trends in custom homebuilding show more homeowners choosing to raise the height of bathroom counter tops to 32 and even 34 inches.
