Question 1

Are air conditioning installation pros in Burnaby insured and licensed?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, any form of HVAC work requires a licensed technician, particularly for tasks involving refrigerants, which are regulated under federal law.

Any AC installation pro you hire in Burnaby should carry both liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage to protect you in the event of accidental damage or injury on the job. When getting quotes, don't hesitate to ask for proof of both before work begins.

Question 2

Do air conditioning installation pros in Burnaby need a permit?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes. Air conditioning installation in Burnaby typically requires a permit, particularly for new installations or major system replacements. However, for window units and other single-room setups, permits aren’t needed.

Your contractor should be familiar with local requirements and in many cases will pull the permit on your behalf. If a pro suggests skipping the permit, that's a red flag as unpermitted work can cause issues with your home insurance and resale value down the line.

Question 3

Does a new air conditioner installed in Burnaby come with a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Most new AC units come with a manufacturer's warranty covering parts, typically ranging from 5 to 10 years depending on the brand and model. Labour warranties are separate and vary by contractor, so it's worth confirming what's covered and for how long before signing anything.

Registering your unit promptly after installation is usually required to activate the full warranty. To find AC installation pros in Burnaby who stand behind their work, browse ratings and reviews on HomeStars before making your decision.

Question 4

How long does air conditioning installation take in Burnaby?

Accepted Answer

For a straightforward central AC replacement in Burnaby, most installations can be completed in a single day. New installations that require ductwork or electrical upgrades will take longer, sometimes two to three days or more depending on the scope of work.

Your contractor should be able to give you a clear timeline as part of their quote.

Question 5

Can an air conditioning installation pro in Burnaby also handle my heating needs?

Accepted Answer

Question 6

Do air conditioning installation pros in Burnaby handle cleanup after the job?

Accepted Answer

Most pros will remove and dispose of your old unit and tidy up the work area once the job is done, but it's worth confirming this upfront. If you're having a full system installed for the first time in Burnaby, ask specifically about disposal fees as some contractors charge extra for hauling away old equipment or packaging materials.
