I find it often narrows down to the lack of understanding or lack of planning, sometimes both. It shouldn’t bankrupt you to find solutions for your home either. I grew up in a family where resources weren’t abundant, I adopted the mentality of if “I can’t buy it, I’ll learn to do it myself and do it well so I can do it for my family”. I am currently a second-year carpentry student at Durham college and go back in September. In college I’ve learned hands-on experience in residential construction with a focus on outdoor structures like decks, fences, and sheds. I also can do framing, renovation, and general carpentry. Through my training in school I’ve developed strong understanding of blueprints, building code, accurate cutting and measuring. I work efficiently and accurately.
