Called up the folks at Davey's to get some dead trees removed from my property. When they came they quoted me an amount and said that they will be back in 3 weeks and will notify me the day before. 3 weeks had passed and they never showed up. During this time one of the trees had fallen and broken a section of my fence. A week later, they arrived unannounced to do the job, luckily I was home. Because one of the trees had fallen, they said that they would send me an updated invoice by mail. I never received the new invoice. I called them and emailed them requesting the updated invoice. A few days later they sent me letter asking me to pay the original quoted amount. I called them back asking for an updated invoice again and explained that one the trees had fallen which I should not get charged for. They said that somebody would get back to me about that. A month later I still haven't received an updated invoice. Then to top it off, they sent me another letter recently stating that I had ample time to pay the invoice and that I should do so promptly... Terrible customer service, would never call them again nor recommend them. I cannot believe that this is still not resolved.

UPDATE October 2017: It's been almost a year since Davey Tree did an unacceptable job of removing my fallen cherry tree, and I still haven't heard back from the manager (Guiseppe?), despite receiving promises from his office that he would contact me about compensation for the poor service.

I hired Davey Tree when my large, cherry tree fell in a windstorm. Crew and office staff were great. Mgmt however, was unprofessional. An extra $385 was added to my costs an hour before job was to start. Mgr said crew would return the next day to finish, but they didn't return until 3 days later. Some wood was not cut to the specified size. As well, removal of upturned roots was overlooked in quote, so long, cut roots were left in a pile and roots still attached to stump were left in a tangled mess on lawn.

Mgr said he’d come out that day to assess the situation, but didn’t come until 5 days later, and only after I called the Office. I was then charged an extra $170 to have the job completed properly. A job that should’ve taken 2-3 days, dragged on for more than 2 weeks with extra charges of more than $500.

I was very pleased with the trimming up a group of cedar trees and the removal of an old tree. Everyone from the office staff, estimator and the 2 men who did the work were very pleasant to deal with. The work was great. Clean up afterwards was great.

I contacted Davey Tree and was promptly visited by their representative named Tony. He was on time, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. We agreed on a plan to remove a particular tree that had gone "out of control" and wire cable another one. His crew showed up on time on the appointed day. They are very safety conscious, their vehicles and equipment are clean and well maintained. The crew was polite, professional and got the job done quickly and professionally. They are a tiny bit more expensive than other tree service companies, but in my experience we received excellent value for our money. Would recommend them without hesitation

Mike Arico handled the necessary paperwork for removal of our 54-year-old black maple. Then his crew removed the tree and ground down the stump . . . returning twice when all the stump was not satisfactorily removed. Excellent work! Gord Findlay, Etobicoke

Contacted Davey Tree as the ice storm brought down branches from our Maple which took out the cable and had trapped the Bell line such that we were hesitant to cut the branches ourselves in case we lost Bell Service. As well, we were unable to access the back yard from the side of the house due to large branches which had fallen in such as to impede access. We also had a large branch from a Birch in the front yard which blocked the driveway (we were able to deal with that one). Davey's arborist came on the Friday after Christmas and he quickly cut the concerning branches, explaining that due to extreme call volume that was all he was able to do at this time and that due to high volume Davey was charging an additional 30%. Was very apologestic for this additional charge; however, given the circumstances, the price was cheap at half the price in my view. We now have additional access to the backyard and the Bell line is free from branches which we can now clean up ourselves. Will definitely have Davey Tree prune our trees early this summer for sure.

I took down an old apple tree in the backyard and took about half of the brush to the dump in my trailer. Time was limited however so I moved the remainder of the pile of brush to the roadside to be chipped. Called Davey Tree. Quoted $180 for 1 hour, truck arrived (3 days late) on site at 8:00 am, all brush chipped, site cleaned up and truck drove away at 8:25, 25 minutes total. Billed for 2 hours??? $360???Ridiculous!!

Davey Tree has treated our Ash Tree for the past two years now. They are punctual, reliable, courteous and an absolute pleasure to deal with. They answer all your questions and explain what they are doing. I wouldn't use anybody else. I highly recommend them.

These guys are experts. They know what they are doing and they do it well and safely. I trust no one else with my trees. Mike Grey is my contact and he is excellent.
