Just Basements

Our home was about 6 years old and had a completely unfinished basement. We had a rough idea of what we wanted in terms of a layout. Reiner's plan incorporated our basic ideas and really improved upon them:

- curved walls that made the space flow
- reworking HVAC ducts to minimize the number of bulkheads
- hiding all the support columns inside the walls
- clever use of space for a shower, built-in bookcases, cupboards, wall niche, etc.

He also accommodated a number of our "unusual" requests (such as a sound isolated media room) and suggested design elements that echoed features on our main floors (such as rounded corner bead).

Throughout the project he and his team were professional, attentive to our questions and ultimately delivered a great finished product for us. We haven't had to call them back for anything in the 4 years since he completed the basement (their work was really that good). One of the unexpected results of the project was that our basement doesn't feel like a basement. It is an incredibly functional and integrated part of our home. We love spending time in it.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Just Basements (and Reiner) to anyone considering their services. In fact I have (and continue to) to this day.

When we first called Reiner / Just Basements, we thought that we just wanted to build a home office in a room that we were calling the "Junk" Room at the time. I bet you can picture it. Not pretty. Chaos.

What we ended up with was a MUCH nicer space than we could have imagined, 100% due to Reiner's input. He recommended removing the 2nd kitchen that was in that room (we didn't use or need it), he recommended putting in a separate room as a pantry/storage room with beautiful double French doors - functional as well as beautiful, he provided all sorts of helpful suggestions.

My over-riding impression of Reiner is that his counsel is not intended to up-sell you to his benefit. Quite the opposite. His counsel is based on creating a functional as well as beautiful space that you will use and enjoy - even if it means doing less than we had originally intended to do.

His knowledge of construction is thorough, his counsel is sound, his craftsmanship and that of his team is impeccable, his attention to detail is exacting - he noticed things we didn't notice and he fixed them b/c it HAD to be up to his standard - which we realized is quite high.

I would have no hesitation to recommend Reiner and his company to anyone. (I feel it is important to mention, his team is pleasant, polite, hardworking and respectful of the fact that they are in someone's home, they are as clean as is possible given the fact that construction is taking place, and that's not usually the case when contractors are in the home.)

Overall, a very positive experience.
