Mattamy Homes

I wish I have read reviews for Mattamy Homes before I bought my first home from them. The shingles from my roof has been blown away a few times now and had to be replaced, the heater broken twice. They have a very poor quality of workmanship. The worst nightmare is yet to come. Water leaked into my house and destroyed the kitchen ceiling and my bedroom wall. DO NOT BUY a Matty home.

Extremely poor quality/ workmanship.. pathetic cabinet quality/ rough edges everywhere / dusty house at closing that you will find chips and dents and marks on hardwood after cleaning / sloppy paint job / uneven tiles/ discolored grouts / full of defect and damages everywhere incomplete home at delivery dusty everywhere..( maybe that is a strategy that we couldn't include items on PDI .... .they delivered the home incomplete and kept being deceitful) ... don't trust the PDI rep/builder/ manager. They tried to minimize the numbers of problems on the form.. make sure you mention every single thingon pdi /30 days otherwise Mattamy won't bother fixing things up for you..... even if you have put them all down on 30-day they still unwilling to fix the issues that shouldn't be there the first place. Very disappointed.. haven't moved in after 60 days... If this is what I see from the outside .. what should I expect between the drywall.. on the roof on the areas that I couldn't see.... very scared now....

VERY poor building quality, had a home inspector in and found some work not even done to proper building code. In the process of having a shower stall gutted and re-done due to water issues and not being done properly originally, once walls were opened again found framing not done to building code specs, very cheap materials used and poor workmanship. Would not buy another Mattamy Home.

DON'T BUY A MATTAMY HOME! We wish we knew that 2 years ago! We have had various issues with our Village Home including a cracked countertop in the kitchen, cracked grout in the shower, swollen countertop in the bathroom, uneven walls, and water damage from a leaking patio door. Our house just reached the two year milestone (officially it's now two year, one month, and 10 days old!) so most of the damage is no longer covered under the Tarion warranty so we're responsible for the repair cost. We will be selling our house in the Spring to avoid any other issues that arrive and I would NEVER recommend this company to my worst enemy! Even the contractors that come to do the repairs know that they're a joke! Just don't subject yourself to the headache that is Mattamy Homes. It really is true- you get what you pay for.

I don't usually write reviews online but my experience with Mattamy has motivated me to share my experience.

I have a 4 year old house from Mattamy. I have had minor issues with the house and big issues. The biggest issue is the roof. I have had shingles fly off the roof at least 6 times in a matter of 4 years, which required me to replace them out of my own pocket.

One part of the roof did not even meet code, which caused water to leak into the house and damage the attic and a room. I've talked to Mattamy about this but they just say its out of warranty and they can't help me, even though its not done to code. The worst part is, that they will ignore you and not reply to calls or emails.

The fact of the matter is, a 4 year old house shouldn't have shingles flying off every storm leaving huge patches of exposed wood, and its not unfair to expect to the builder to follow code when building a house.

I find it hard to believe that Mattamy would not do the right thing and fix there mistake.

I was beyond the one year warranty on my new house when I noticed cracked tiles in my entrance way. I called up mattamy and they sent someone over and fixed it free of charge.

After 9 years in a new Mattamy home 6 windows are fogging up and sweating. The seal in the windows failed and the reason for the windows foggy up. I called Mattamy home care who advised me the company they used to install the windows are no longer in business and that unfortunately I have to deal with the problem. The customer rep actually told me after 10 years it's common to replace windows in a home. I can't believe Mattamy won't stand by the quality of the product they install. If 6 windows fail there is obviously a problem with the quality of the product, especially when other manufacturers offer 20 to 25 years and some a lifetime warranty on windows. I'm really frustrated with Mattamy and the way the customer is left to deal with substandard windows they put in their homes.

Fantastic Builder. Stay informed, ask questions, raise concerns and take advantage of site visits. You can't go wrong with this builder. Best service we have ever had, best experience. This is our second home, first from Mattamy. My next home, 100% from Mattamy for sure.

Our house in Airdrie looks really nice, but the longer we live in it, the more problems we have. We had to have our kitchen counter replaced, plumbing in both of our bathrooms, our laminate floor, and our thermostat. The ensuite is freezing cold in the winter and our back door leaked during the last rain storm. We have had siding blow off from our house already and our driveway and basement are already cracking. There are pieces of something underneath the carpets that we can feel when we walk on them. The varnish on the edges of our counters is fading off and they used a laquer pen to 'fix' it instead of properly re-staining. I often wonder what will break next. I feel like this is way too many problems for a brand new home. The turnover in their warrant dept is constant, so it has been difficult to get them to come back and fix things. It took over two years to get them to replace the floors. I would not recommend using this builder.

Nothing but issues since we signed with Mattamy in Airdrie. The sales reps have no clue what is going on with construction or how much things actually cost. Mattamy will take every cent out of you. Our house has been pushed back twice, we were made promises that weren't kept and they never return our calls.
