When we bought our100 year old house, the basement had been waterproofed- sort of, Perhaps in the 1990s. We were having other work done when the contractor noticed a leak in the basement. When we inspected it, the so called waterproofing was a single layer with gaps. At least one wall (the side with the back porch) had not been waterproofed at all.
We elected to re-do the waterproofing completely as this was holding up other renovation plans. The MacRae folks did a very good job. This including waterproofing one wall from the inside rather than talking off the rear two story porch, We recommended them to our neighbours for their waterproofing needs and I understand that they were happy. We did experience some issues caused by the rubble foundation, the MacRae folks came out right away and fixed the matter.
As lick would have it, the exterior stairwell into the basement started to crumble... the was an area not included in the original work. We have to rebuild this. This required gearing a permit and an engineer's recommendation. The MacRae folks recommended an engineer. Once we had the permit - which took a while – the work was done quickly and well.
