Kitchenaid Gas Stove

Guy came out to give me estimate.. told him to proceed.. he wanted to get paid for estimate before fixing issue.. Paid him for estimate but wanted to call around for second opinion in lieu of this strange request..in my opinion fees are all billed at the end of the problem being fixed.. Called back some time after.. Being told they have to do another estimate to assess.. This is totally rediculous.. Never, never use these guys.. they are terrible..

This is respond to “Kitchenaid Over Owner's” – TAS has been in service since 1975 and has good reputation with our customers. Again we don’t know who the complainer is as “Kitcheaid Over Owner’s” is not set up as customer in our system therefore we can’t provide exact answer to this particular complaint. TAS is servicing approximately 1200 customers a month and we don’t remember details unless name, telephone number or address is specified. When calling Home Stars management to get some kind of clue who the complainer is they advised that they can’t help us as they don’t have control who is writing what. To respond to this review we are advising you that when calling TAS for service we charge for service call that takes care for travel time and diagnosis of your appliance problem and then we’ll give customer an est. It is up to customer if he/she wants to repair the appliance. If appliance is not being repaired than customer is obligated to pay for service call as agreed at the time of appointment being placed. In regards to this complainer mentioning that they spent $4000 on repairs – WE DON’T KNOW W ANYBODY EVER SINCE 1975 THAT WOULD SPENT MORE THEN $900 FOR REPAIR ON THEIR APPLIANCE. We asking Home Stars to review their records and/or find this customer/complainer and repair TAS Rating for this review.

Washing machine

Please don't ever use this company: Our washing machine stopped working and they charged us almost $800 and they kept coming back because it wasn't working still. They are literally a bunch of morons who are just ripping people off. One of these days someone's going to get so mad at them and will hopefully sue these useless people out of business. Please don't ever use them. Completely useless!!!!

We at TAS do not know who this customer is. We service 60 to 80 different customers every day and doing so in varies areas. We repair also washers as specified above. If this customer was serviced by TAS and is very unsatisfied with the fact that he paid so match for repair then he/she should state their name and address so we can respond to it with our opinion. At this time, we can be only sorry that he/she spent that kind of money for repair. We don’t even know if washer is repaired or not. We would appreciate that Home Stars takes this under consideration as even when we called management they could not help us with finding who post this review under our name. For all we know it could somebody off the street or extremely mad competitor. Whoever wrote this review doesn’t show high level of inelegancy what could be seen in their writing. As far as we know Home Stars supposed to review and verify all postings prier to go live – obviously that was not done.

clothes dryer repair

Our clothes dryer came with our house and is easily 10-15 years old. But the service man who came was able to fix the main problem, as well as to solve a few minor issues, saving us from having to buy a new machine (and figure out how to get it down the basement!). Very professional and extremely helpful employee. This was over three years ago, and the dryer still works well.

Stove's bake element not working

My 5-year old Thermador's bake element was broken -- wouldn't heat beyond 100 degrees. I Googled 'Thermador Repair, Toronto' and got Toronto Appliance Services. The Guy came on time, but despite my having told them that I needed a new bake element, he didn't bring one, just came to do a 'diagnosis' (which was that the bake element was broken). After he left, saying he'd return with the part next week, I tried to turn on my broiler to cook a pizza, and Surprise --it suddenly wasn't working. He denies having touched it, of course.

Customer called TAS and placed appointment to repair not working Thermador oven. Company policy is to go and verify what’s the problem and what part need to be replaced. Thermador oven doesn’t have visible element so by looking at the oven it could not be determine whether element or different part is needed. When our tech arrived and opened inside of the oven he determined that bake element was completely burned. So TAS has created estimate to replace element and customer agreed to it. When our tech arrived with new element and replaced it he found that control board was not sending any power to element. At this time customer was notified and showed that bake element (completely burned) has caused malfunction of control board. Customer was angry that this costing him so match to repair an old Thermador stove – he refused repair and DID NOT paid $400 for it. TAS does not know what happened with customers stove. To Home Stars - please repair TAS Rating for this review.

Dishwasher repair

The company's labour rates are misleading. Not a fixed rate as implied when setting up the appointment. Very unsatisfactory customer service followup call. I was left with the impression they are used to one-time only customers. Find someone else to do your repair!

TAS has been in business since 1975. Our large customer base was established based on our service. Our service call charge includes travel time, vehicle were and tare, gasoline and first 30 minutes of diagnosis time. Usually takes up to 20 minutes to make diagnostics and most repairs are completed within 1 hour. Our labour rate is flat fee for first hour and then it breaks to per 15 min charge. At all cases TAS always advises customers of its labour, part and service charges before making any repairs and/or ordering any parts. In this situation customer was advised of the price by the phone before we ordered part – customer agreed to estimate therefore we ordered part and went back to replace it. This took TAS approximately 30 min to complete it and customer refused to pay. After little argument and explanation that we had to make 2 trips, order and pick up part customer had paid amount that he agreed to before we came out. We are sorry that customer is dissatisfied after the job was successfully completed.

Dishwasher replair

I called Toronto Appliance Repair in November 2009 as my dishwasher wasn't filling. They sent out a repairman who diagnosed the problem as the water intake hose. Since he didn't have a replacement on hand, he reversed the direction of this hose and this allowed water to flow. he wasn't sure how this would 'hold up' so he wrote on my work order that the hose would have to be replaced if any further problems. He said they would waive the service call ($78) if they had to return.
I called today as the dishwasher isn't getting the dishes clean. yes, it's 4 months after the fact but we don't use it that often and I had to be sure this was a real situation. I spoke with the Service Mgr, Chris who refused to honour this agreement. He said he could 'guarantee' it wasn't the intake hose yet he questioned me "what does this mean, he reversed the hose?". I said, just come and replace the hose, I'll pay parts and labour and it in fact this DOESN'T fix the issue, I'll call them yet again to diagnose the issue. He refused. So I have not called Aubrey's Appliance Repair as it is well reviewed here and I"m sure I will get satisfaction.

What could this company do to improve their services?
They could honour their agreements.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Don't let them take a short cut and clearly don't let too mauch time pass before recalling them.

Dryer Repair

I have a large family with a massive laundry turnover. A man arrived from Toronto Appliance Service, inspected the dryer for 20 minutes and reported that he would be calling later that today with a quote, although at the time he was not unsure whether the drum or just the felt supports would have to be replaced. Two days later, and no quote... in the meantime I had seriously racked up my VISA bill on Xmas gifts so a call came through to the effect that the $88 service charge had not gone through! Clearly their accounting department is as miserably slow as their service. Yes, in the end they got their $88 and we had to find someone else to fix the dryer. Their "attentive" repair was enhanced by a stunningly rude "representative" whose ideas on customer service may well have been developed under Stalin.

Customer placed service call for noisy dryer. TAS tech showed up in the first week of December 2009 and determined that we needed front felt with glades for it. Our tech collected credit card number from customer but did not authorized it on the spot. When being in the office next morning he was trying to authorize it again – it failed. Our accounting department was calling customer to get different card and/or different method of payment - customer was not available (even though) messages had been left to call us back with payment and for estimate. Finally days later we got hold of customer asking them to pay for service and giving them estimate to repair their dryer. At this time customer advised that, their dryer is already repaired and they don’t need our service anymore. At this point we asked customer to pay for our initial visit that it wasn’t pay for yet. TAS will not order parts if customer will not agree to it and/or if customer does not pay for initial visit. This customer had few appliance companies line up to repair of their dryer. TAS came to diagnose and second company or customer himself repaired dryer after watching our tech taking it apart. TAS is here to service appliances and make customers satisfied but TAS has to charge for its services. There is many customers that get away with payments for completed jobs that is why TAS is protecting itself and take proper steps and actions to prevent that.

TORONTO APPLIANCE SERVICE - TERRIBLE TECHS

We have an in wall microwave/oven combo (kitchenaid) unit where the microwave portion wasn't heating. Sounded like it was working properly but wouldn't heat anything. I did some research on the Internet and most results indicated that the magnatron was faulty so I mentioned it to the repair man. After he fiddled with the unit for about 3 hours, he ended up destroying the whole unit. Display board, inverter, main board and one other part was changed. More than a month has gone by and now they've concluded that the magnatron is faulty. Hmmm...it's not rocket science...just Google the problem. If the Bogden knew what he was doing in the first place, my micro would be working now...in time for the Holidays! NEVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY EVEN IF WHIRLPOOL/KITCHENAID RECOMMENDS THEM. Ask Whirlpool to refer another company...TAS isn't the only one. KitchenAid customer service is good though...we complained to them and they're covering the costs.

Customer called complying that her microwave is not working and that there is no lights in the oven. When TAS tech came he found that light transformer is not working control board was dimmed. He ordered display board and light transformer. At this time the light was up and working and display was not dimmed anymore but microwave was still not operating so after repairing other issues that could be potentially effecting magnetron now was time to look and most expensive part. This part was checked before and noting indicated any problems with magnetron that is why we decided to repair other issues first. Finally we replaced magnetron and microwave is working fine. Customer was advised each time when we came to her house of these different issues. She knew very well that we might need more than one part to repair her oven so knowing of all the costs she called KitcheAid to complaint that such a new oven have so many issues and that she paid so match for it. Whirlpool ended up covering entire repair, customer did not pay for anything. This oven was only 2 years old and parts that we were replacing were not covered anymore. Customer would have to pay a lot of money for repair and that is why customer was frustrated. Customer received full satisfaction after Whirlpool covered entire repair.

Dishwasher Repair

I've learned my lesson, hopefully someone else can learn as well.

I called the Whirlpool service desk about my dishwasher that wasn't washing as well and was routed to TAS. The appointment was set-up without fuss and the tech arrived on time. I should have sent him packing when he said 'that's a unique machine' as he looked at my Whirlpool dishwasher, but unfortunately didn't. After some fuddling around and confused looks he called someone on his cell phone and spoke for a few minutes. The diagnosis was a component that he said would cost $220 which they would contact me about and he'd come back to install (for more $). I waited a week and heard nothing, so thought I'd order the part myself to speed things along - learning that the part was no longer available and I'd have to buy a new dishwasher (to replace my 5-year old one).
I figured, if it was dead, it wouldn't hurt me having a look. It turns out a float level sensor in the bottom was dirty, so I cleaned it, put it back together and it worked fine. So, I phoned TAS and asked that my $88 be refunded as the diagnosis was completely wrong and almost cost me $800 to buy a new one. I have phoned several times and they have stopped responding. For the principal of it, I will now be taking them to small claims court where I am almost sure to win - more to come. If TAS or their techs feel they are not equiped to diagnose a make or model (which they know before they come out), they should decline rather than taking the money and providing no service - or in my case, taking a stab in the dark at random components that may have cost me a new dishwater.

Fridge Repair

When my warrantied whirlpool refrigerator broke down several times, Whirlpool sent out Toronto Appliance to fix it. the first time they came out, fixed the fridge only to have it break down 31 days later. When I called for them to come back to fix the fridge again, they said they were going to charge me another $78 just for showing up even though they had only been here 31 days ago. "Their service is only guaranteed for 30 days" said the manager lady. I was being very reasonable with her and explained that it actually is the exact same problem and asked if she could make an exception as it was only 1 day over their service warranty and they had not fixed the problem properly. Long story short, she would not budge, became very angry and I ended up hanging up on her, calling Whirlpool and expressing my dissatisfaction with their choice of service companies. Unfortunately, they had to come out again as the compressor broke down completely, this time, the service technician was friendlier and told me that the compressor would be replaced within 2-3 days -- it has now been almost 2 weeks and I can't get anyone to return my calls or give me any correct information as to when I can expect my fridge to be fixed. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 week old and am getting very tired of having to wait for a refrigerator! My only option is to speak to the Manager lady again, and that didn't get me anything last time except a pounding headache and high blood pressure.

AVOID USING THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. Whirlpool has other qualified companies that they can send out instead of Toronto Appliance. Save yourself some aggravation and use one of the others!
