Dave Marcotte Foundations

I had a musty damp smelling basement for 14 years since I bought my house. It rendered the basement space relatively useless. I also suffered a few sewer backups due to roots interfering with my pipes. I was considering possible adding an extension on my house and called Dave Marcotte as a result of a reference through colleagues at my school board. Discussing options with Dave we decided to make the unused spaces in my house useable and eliminating the need to add on. We ended up excavating the foundation and installing a waterproof membrane around the outside. He replaced the weeping tile, installed a sump pump and dug up the old sewer pipes and replaced them. I worked on stripping, framing and dry walling the interior of the basement. We then redesigned the second floor making a large bedroom suite with a new bathroom and walk in closet instead of a small bedroom and a second room used for storage. I love my house now and feel good that I am using all the space well.

I really appreciated working with Dave for a number of reasons. He was a really good communicator. He uses email and phone effectively. Although he is always busy he made me feel my questions and concerns were important to him. I did some of the work myself and Dave was very flexible in coordinating workers to do what I couldn’t. He was also very helpful in advising me on how best to do the work I was doing myself. I agreed to do the landscaping after the job was complete. It seemed overwhelming at first so Dave agreed to come back with his machines to reshape the ground according to my new design.

Dave gave good competitive quotes and stuck to them. I had not had experience hiring contractors before and I found him very easy to talk to. Anything that did go wrong, Dave took responsibility for and fixed it without being asked. He was receptive to ideas and had good ones of his own. I also thought all the subcontractors he used were very professional and I liked the way they worked with young people learning the trade.

I would positively recommend Dave Marcotte and would hire him again if I needed work done.

I called several contractors to get quotes regarding two cracks in my basement foundation to be repaired. Dave was the first to return my calls and quickly came to my house to inspect the cracks. I got a detailed quote the following day I accepted in a heartbeat when I saw what the other big names in the business were proposing (digging around the house at astronomical costs). Dave came as planned and cleanly filled the two cracks with epoxy. I don't believe I will see any moisture again and Dave's 10 years warranty will give me peace of mind. A few years ago, we had another "foundation repair company" do some concrete work for us at our old house, we weren't satisfied, and they didn't honour their work. It was all very frustrating, and expensive.
