Our renovation was for the bathing areas of our two bathrooms. The ensuite bath was converted into a walk-in shower, and the main bath would get a new bathtub and tiling. After calling and meeting with several contractors, we came across McLellan Contracting on Homestars and made the call. After meeting with John McLellan we knew right away that he and his company was the right choice.

Every person we dealt with on the McLellan team was professional, helpful, and friendly. If someone was running late or would not be able to make it to do the work, we were always notified by phone. If you needed a suggestion on where to purchase tile, or who to build a glass enclosure for the walk-in shower for example, McLellan had relationships with trustworthy, experienced people to get the job done.

Our two contractors who transformed our baths were not only a joy to have around, but they truly knew their trade. They had integrity, were punctual, and always cleaned up at the end of the day. It has been over one month since our baths were completed and there has not been a single problem. When we spoke to John at our home, he introduced us to the Sun Tunnel for our dark ensuite bathroom. We were so impressed that we had one installed. It really is amazing. As well, the walls were repainted and finally, the glass shower enclosure was installed.

Our family could not be happier or more pleased with the end results. The baths are beautiful and extremely well done. Plus a big thank you to the whole McLellan team for making this process go as smoothly as possible. And of course much gratitude to John for his patience, advice and warm demeanor, and big thanks to Darrell and John for their fine work and whom made each day special. We hope to see you again for the kitchen reno.

We renovated our kitchen and removed two load bearing walls to open up the room in April-June 2012. John's crew was fantastic and always cleaned up at the end of every day. I would recommend them to anyone undergoing a major renovation as there is always someone available to keep you updated on the progress through his office.

Our home had an area that was open from the first floor to the ceiling of the second floor. We decided to floor it off and wall it up, adding two new bedrooms to the second floor. We received a few quotes, but John's quote was the most reasonable and John himself was clearly knowledgeable.

The work was done very quickly and to a very high standard. The crew made sure to keep the renovation area sealed, to minimize dust and to keep our toddler out of harm’s way. The crew were also good at communicating; they frequently left updates and notes to confirm instructions.

We plan on using John and his team again for future home improvements and renovations.

From the outset when John came to do the estimate we felt encouraged that the project would go smoothly. Throughout the process was professional and the installers showed great respect for our property and kept us informed of the progress throughout. The outcome was better than we could have expected and exceeded expectations. We would not hesitate to place any future projects with this company. They are consummate professionals and their pricing is very competitive.

The previous owner of my home compromised the structure by attempting to make it look more open concept through opening some load bearing walls. as a result the main floor level sank sloping towards the basement staircase. John Mclellan and his crew came in. They were all polite, honest, helpful and clean. I asked for proof of his insurance, the business HST number and references from previous similar jobs he had done within the last three years. He provided everything I requested. The dug into the foundation, installed new posts and relevelled the main floor. They finished on time, on budget as promised. A pleasure to deal with this company. They are true professionals.

John and his crew designed and created the most beautiful and fully functional wheelchair accessible washroom for us. He and his team worked quickly to get the job complete, they kept the work area incredibly clean and were professional and friendly the entire time. I would definitely recommend John to my family, friends and colleagues for any construction needs!

It is with great pleasure that I write this comment about John's company.

We wanted to have our condominium apartment renovated completely. It had to be painted, carpeted and the bathrooms completely gutted and redone. It was a very large job, as my husband and I are senior citizens in our seventies. John's name was recommended to us by the condominium management. We were impressed with John's personality when we met him. His caring and considerate attitude made us feel confident about entrusting him with the project. He discussed finances, timelines and other details with honesty and consideration.

John helped us by making suggestions, purchasing the materials with us and storing it in his care as we had no space. The time projection for the job was three weeks. All furniture was taken out and stored by the company. We stayed in Toronto for one week and then went out of city. The team kept in contact. If something did not work out, it was replaced. Whatever was needed, got done and we were in our apartment on time.

What we found unique was the coordination, cooperation and comradery that existed among the team members and trades people. Darrel was in charge of the project, Debbie, Evan and Joshua were with him. Mike installed the carpets. Warren custom made my washroom vanity and retouched the furniture. The office personnel Trish and others were very co-operative. The workmanship in every area was excellent. They all took pride in their work and displayed true professionalism. The place was left nice and clean.

What makes this company outstanding is the caring attitude of all the people. They walked an extra mile to make us comfortable during this busy time. With their true professional expertise, kind and caring attitude, a project that could have been most arduous and strenuous turned out to be a pleasant and worthwhile experience.

We redid our roof with John 5 years ago. The price was cheaper than anyone else and he had a great selection of shingles. They were on time cleaned up all the mess and were very careful not to leave any nails on the driveway for our child and pets to get hurt on. There was a storm last summer that blew a lot of our neighbors shingles off even though their roof was newer than ours. Ours held up great. No problems. Would definately recommend him to everyone.

having 3 windows installed, day 1 and i was so impressed i couldnt wait to write a review. From weeks ago when i ordered window, John had personally visited after I had 3-4 other contractors not return calls or try to charge me for emergency fees as windows were leaking. John was quick to show, honest and really trustworthy. He worked with my insurance and communicated throughout. He again personally visited to take last minute measurements to ensure a quick install. His staff showed on time, worked hard and had a great first day getting 1 bay window installed. This company is trustworthy, reliable and honest. Even the installers were as courteous and kind as John, taking time to clean up well and surprisingly even taking time to play with my children in order to remind them of where it was safe to go. I am so thoroughly impressed by them as trades workers but also as decent humans. Cant say enough and will post pics when completed.
