living room set

Very bad experience with the South store in Edmonton. Pushy sales people to get you sign a purchase order while telling you you can cancel/change your order up to 24 hours before delivery while not telling you that you'll be charged 10% fee if you do so. Manager didn't care about it either. Pay attention to the reviews they get. I should have done it myself.

Furniture

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is and that goes for the deals at Ashley Furniture. The best part of the experience was the delivery and that's not saying much.

First of all, like many of the reviewers, I went to the store without the view that I would really purchase. I was lured in with what seemed like a great, too good to be true 6 piece bedroom set. The sales person walked us through and showed us the pieces which included a dresser, mirror, night stand, bed frame and headboard, and drawer chest. Six pieces right? Wrong... after the pieces were delivered I was rudely made aware that the drawer chest was not the six piece but instead the slats to the bed were the sixth piece (who would have thought that you would even think to suggest a part of a bed was the piece in a bedroom set). Not only that but the furniture itself was not much better than something you would find in Jysk, except without the (much) of the assembly. It's no wonder why the show room has the lighting of a basement (you can't see the poor quality of the furniture without the light of day).

Buyer's remorse, you bet. Not only that but you can't return the stuff without being charged a 25% restocking fee (plus the $100 in delivery cost). Talk about a bait and switch... what sounds like a good deal turns out to lock you in to a horrible deal (with veneered furniture).

Feeling like I was locked into a suckers bet I gave them one more chance to remedy the experience and called back to find out how to get the other missing piece to the set. The sales defence kicked off right away with the sales man quoting back the incredibly high marked up price as the basis for saying I got a deal - I'm not sure that they have ever even tried to compare their sales prices with any other furniture store but if they had they would clearly realize that they are, at best, the middle of the pack. (On my soured and rotting deal, they were priced out.) Not surprisingly, the sales man came down with a marked down of $100 of their inflated price and the promise of free delivery. Given that he was trying to fix the problem and I was stuck with few options to get a matched piece, I gave in and thought I'd let bygone be bygones and work things out. I was told to come back and process the sale.

When I arrived at the store, I was hit up with another ugly surprise to a string of unpleasant surprises. The store manager re-dictated the terms and removed the free delivery. In essence, he did not like the fact that he was marking down by the $100 so took it back by trying to force the cost back on me. What is very disappointing about the tactic is a deal is deal and as an organization you can't commit to something one minute and change that when you feel like it doesn't suit you later. If that wasn't what Ashley Furniture felt was unfair, they wouldn't put a 25% restocking fee on their sales contracts. Though I might not have been please, just following through on what was promised would have at least let me continue to let bygones be bygones but the unreasonably short sighted consideration of the sales manager has made me a truly disgruntled customer.

To all those that will read this... there are better companies out there with the same quality of product at better prices. There are ugly terms to their contracts and don't be surprised if you don't have much luck getting things worked out. I can definitely see how getting a good sales person might convince you that this company might be okay to deal with but be warned that you may find yourself with a customer service issue that you have to resolve with a very unpleasant organization.

Crappy company.. lack lustre product... terrible management.

sofa, dinning table

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! It seems Ashley was trying to dump their defecitve furniture first, I bought three pieces and every single one has problem and now after 5 weeks, I am still waiting for the delivery.

when I check the furniture, they look nice on their website, but when they come to you, the quality is ugly.

bedroom set

i spent $1400 on a bed set that took almost a month to deliver. my advice to furniture buyers is to consider smaller furniture businesses especially in the east due to their competitive pricing and friendly service. i suggest for best pricing to check out mude furniture, furniture gallary, paramount furniture and midha's furniture.

Kids cottage book shelf bed

I bought a bed frame for my daughters room 10 weeks ago. The frame came in 12 separate pieces with no screws or instructions. It took close to 8 weeks to be sent the missing screws ( I still have no intrusctions ) I called to speak with a manger regarding this issue and they are always in a "meeting" I work in customer service I would never let a client try and get a hold of me for almost 2 months. My daughter has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for almost 3 months! Completely unexceptable. There is still no solution in ragards to putting this frame together. Ashley's furniture is doing nothing to help. Buying furniture at Ashley's furniture is like taking $600.00 and throwing it in the garbage

Bedroom and living room

I bought an entire bedroom set: bed, 2 dressers and a night stand. My entire living room: a 3 piece coffee table set, sofa and love seat. Something went wrong with literally everything we got within the first 6 months. The paint easily chipped off or rubbed off, the bed broke from just laying on it ,the couch started to peel and flake off and the cushion lost most of its cushioniness. Dealing with customer service was a nightmare.

Power reclining chair, love seat & sofa

I wish I would have read these reveiws before buying at Ashley Fine Furniture!!! BUYER BEWARE DO NOT BUY !!! This is a SUMMARY it would take me to long and there is not enough room on this review for me to go into all the details that have happened to us - I am sure I have made my point!!! The in store service was ok - not fabulous - but it went down hill from there!!!! Paid EXTRA money for delivery and warranty!!!! We didn't want to wrestle our 3 new pieces of furniture into the basement!! Good idea right???? Yah my friends would have cared WAY more about my new purchases than these guys did!!! We had to wait 35 days for our furniture to be delivered???Love Seat was DROPPED right out of the delivery truck on its end!! Didn't actually see how the other 2 pieces were removed from truck, I'm scared to even imagine?? Of course the one whole side is broken and all the electrical is damaged. Pieces had to be delivered regardless and now I have to make a claim and wait for a "Tec" to come and asses damage??? The Tec came took pictures etc - now another team will come and take my furniture to shop to be fixed???? Why should I have to have repaired furniture for their companies carelessness????? This company DOES NOT replace, I've learned that!!! Love seat pick up was cancelled due to no driver, I was told THEY would call and reschedule - I had to call to get this to happen!! I now have a new pick up date scheduled and asked for a delivery date for return to be also booked - and with Christmas approaching made it very clear I better have my furniture returned before!!!!! We purchased our furniture September 20th 2014 - had to pay in full $4,609.46 - it's now over 2 mths later - 6 calls to customer service where NO ONE cares at all - they seem to have their same responses they use on everyone cause I read on this site another review and was feed the same BS!!!! We can not believe that a company as big and we thought as reputable as this has such poor service - no one should have to go through this!!!! They obviously do not go over customer service complaints or read reviews or they might have changed some procedures and policies - I have now read complaint reviews on this company dating back to 2005??? Go to the BRICK we received excellent delivery service when purchased all 5 major appliances - we would have but couldn't find furniture that we wanted there!!!!

Service

I bought a bed and dresser from Ashley Furniture the first week of September 2014 and was told it would be a 2/3 weeks before we could have it shipped to us. After 3 confirmations of delivery, 2 were cancelled and one was a no show I still don't have my bedroom furniture because today, Oct 24 it was cancelled again after receiving a confirmation call Wednesday evening. Reason for cancellation: We don't have your bed frame! This is the same reason I was given for the first cancellation. I went to Ashley last week and they confirmed on their computers in was in their warehouse ready to be shipped, been sleeping on the mattress on the floor for a month, will never shop there again.

Sofa and Living Room Set

I WOULD NEVER BUY FROM ASHLEY EVER AGAIN.

We bought a house and planned ahead. We purchased a full living room set from Ashley Furniture in Red Deer AB. We shopped for it a month before we moved knowing it could take some time to be delivered. Planning ahead. We purchased a sofa, love seat and tables for our TV room. When they showed up, the delivery driver forgot the glass inserts for the tables, the lamps shades looked rough and dented and the couches were ordered in the wrong color. The driver left half the tables and the lamps, took the couch back to the warehouse. We contacted the sales manager that sold us the furniture...she first told us that no we had ordered that color and that we were wrong to send them back. Once making her understand that no we did not pick the wrong color that she had ordered STONE instead of COBBLESTONE, she set up a delivery date for the wrong colored couches to be re-delivered and that once that occurred (one week later) they would order the proper color which would take another 3 weeks. The next day I called the Customer Service line to ask about the glass in my table, he stated he would make a call but since I didn't report it right away he wasn't sure he would be able to do anything. The delivery driver told me they would dropped off later that day - They were not. The long weekend went by, didn't hear anything. Called on the Tuesday and they would not order the new couches until they delivered the old couch. There customer service was the more terrible I have ever dealt with. I could not speak with a manager, many people would say they would call back and never did. The manager in Red Deer said she would sort it out, never called back. Finally after 7 phone calls and no one caring, apologizing or ordering the proper couches, no one brought the glass for our tables I finally said "we are done, we want our money back and we do not want any of the furniture". We were told three times that they were going to charge us a re-stocking fee of 25%. I almost lost it at this point. Restocking for what? A half a table and dented lamps?! We were irate. Finally I spoke with someone on the customer service line that set up our refund and drivers to come pick up their junk. We now have been in our house 3 weeks and have no furniture. I was beyond disappointed with the service and how the mishap was handled. No one cared about us or our order. No one said sorry or even tried to fix the issue.

We order couches and much nicer tables from a local place in Calgary, who also told us that Ashley Furniture makes approx. 3 million dollars a year in sales...which told me that no one cared about our order as they obvious make good money off their crap anyways.

DO NOT USE THEM, NICE FURNITURE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE Customer Service!
