We have recently moved to the Toronto area. We were looking to have built-ins in the living room, beside the fireplace. Istvan had great suggestions for the style of the built-ins (cabinet and drawers) and redoing the fireplace to match. He recommended lighting for the shelves and I glad that I listened because it looks fantastic. The project was completed within the timelines that were communicated. Initially, we met with multiple companies for estimates and not only was BlackForest the most affordable but Istvan (who also goes by Steven) had such a friendly personality and passion for woodworking that it made him the clear choice for us. Once the project got underway he made great suggestions and was honest with us about our choices, all to ensure the best outcome and that we got exactly what we wanted.

In my experience with most tradespeople, they would only speak directly to my husband, even when I'm the one asking the questions. Istvan treated us both equally and our conversations made it feel like we had known him for some time!

Steven designed and built an entertainment unit/fireplace for me in a 100+ year old home. It really makes the room more polished and made the space much more finished/useable for my family and guests. He is generous with good ideas and has great attention to detail. He is also just good to work with - I have a baby at home and he was always respectful about noise/mess. Would strongly recommend him and his company.

We worked with Istvan on a wall unit for a small basement den to accommodate various needs - a closet given that the room is used as an alternate entrance into the home, an electric fireplace for added warmth and for home office/entertainment purposes.

Istvan created a balanced design that not only fulfilled all of our needs, but elevated the room's appearance. Details, which we would not have considered, like matching our existing baseboards to that of the unit exhibits his attention to detail and were much appreciated. We are very happy with the end result and it was so nice working with a professional who is reliable, meticulous and as invested in our project as we were.

Steven did an amazing job in our built in bookshelves and also installed our 150 year-old antique fireplace mantle with another set of surrounding shelves. We couldnt be happier with the work it completely transformed our house.
