Burl-Oak Landscaping Inc. - A Challenging Company to Deal With

I wrote a favourable five-star review of Burl-Oak Landscaping when my large landscaping project was completed in April 2021, because I was truly satisfied with the end result at the time. However, within my two-year warranty period, I had several cracked pavers and a problem with my waterfall installation. I reached out to the owner, Louay, to resolve the issue. However, he refused to accept that these problems were covered under the warranty, was difficult to reason with, and never visited my home to investigate the issues. The matter is now in Small Claims Court.

What was most difficult in dealing with Burl-Oak Landscaping is that it operates out of P.O. Box business address (contracts and all email correspondence), meaning there is no physical address with staff to meet with and deliver correspondences to (including legal documents).

While Burl-Oaks sales and marketing team were pleasant to negotiate my contract with, do not be misled by their promises. Ultimately, Louay executes the projects and makes all business decisions on warranty matters. If you have a problem, you will be dealing with him.

Burloak Landscaping – Unprofessional and Rude Owner

I wrote a glowing review of Burl Oak Landscaping when my job was completed last year because I was truly satisfied with the end result. However, after only one winter, I had 8 cracked pavers and a problem with my pool waterfall. I have been reaching out to the owner Louay Suleman since spring 2022 and it is now almost October. We've had several exchanges some of which he was most insulting and rude. I also observed abusive behavior towards his workers during the job itself. Mr. Suleman does not take responsibility for the cracked pavers. Instead, he blames it on the manufacturer. That said, he has never taken the time to visit and investigate. I am now going to hire another contractor to resolve my problem. A similar issue occurred regarding the installation of the waterfall in my yard. The installation of the capstone was not done properly, resulting in split falls. I ended up fixing the problem myself with the help of my pool company and fixture manufacturer. I spent more than $70,000 for my project with Burl Oak and this type of treatment is unacceptable. Anyone who attempts to deal with Burl Oak Landscaping should do their homework carefully and insist on meeting and getting to know the owner directly. Do not be mislead by the pleasant demeanor and empty promises of Burl Oak's sales and marketing team. Ultimately, Louay runs a tightly managed company where he makes all decisions and he is a very difficult person to deal with. If you have a problem down the line, you will be dealing with him. I was told by his marketing manager that they would be grateful if I posted a review when the work was done. By doing so, I would be treated with special attention on warranty matters. I did get special attention, the most rude and unprofessional treatment I have ever experience in the some 40 years I have been dealing with contractors and trades, all over the small request to replace 8 pavers.
