Had recommendation and saw finished job. All was going well but Avi the owner who operates a one-man show and contracts out helpers, did some foyer tiles and then didn't show up for months. All supplies were in my garage except for a few items waiting for him to start job. Excuse after excuse(I gave too much deposit) and finally the demolition and job began. Again, and again, start/stop. The total time was about 3 months!. The garbage was in my garage the whole time. Two weeks after the job was finished the bin appeared and to add insult he put some of his own garbage in the bin and dumped some of the heavy stuff from my own home on the side of my house! I bought all my own supplies, the charge was for labour only. The overall job isn't bad but I have a very expensive shower with the threshold and floor and "ungraded" angles and the water does not drain properly! The paint job sucks as he refused to put a second coat on the ceiling and some rough spots on the walls. I had to pay someone to finish a few small items as Avi never game back after I made the final payment. The only reason I paid was because I was afraid that he would not send the bin. I tried to hold back some bucks but we got into an argument and he then charged me for a few things he was doing for free in my other small bathroom. What a rip off! A very bad experience and expensive to boot. The most upset is my improperly working shower, which I'm sure will leak sooner than later! I spent a small fortune on the tiles so replacing these are out of the question.
This guy operates on an non-existent budget as he was always harassing me for more advances and I paid the the money to the bin guy as well. I should have charged him for the number of trips I made to Home Depot to buy stuff for the job and lug it back home in my car. Live and learn!
