Removal of old railway tie retaining wall / steps and interlocking brick and replacement with new engineered stone retaining wall and stairs.
Incredibly fast and efficient work- 1 day removal and 1 day build. The crew was very neat, the job was excellent and the disruption to neighbours was minimal.

We called Rick and his wife for a quote. We needed a rebuild/levelling of our front entrance walkway and steps. Rick came out promptly and got his hands dirty with digging, before giving a real informative quote. We had 4 other contractors also quote, but the fact that he was so detailed and energetic, gave us confidence and we are not disappointed a year later. They replaced the sod and did a little asphalt work to link to the driveway. Work was done in 1 afternoon, big crew and very fast turnaround. Try them.

If you get other quotes. Be mindful that Hofstetter takes a bit more time putting the quote together, but that's because they insure that what they quote is available. That's the right thing to do !! Thank you. Truly.

I had my driveway and adjacent retaining walls redone already last year (2016). However my story starts as early as 2014 when I had a first contact with Rick to discuss this project. Of course I had several contractors to look at the project and provide a quote. Rick was the only one who took the time to make an actual 3D model of the proposed changes and invited me over to the little show room they have to explain everything in detail.
Financing aspects dictated that I had to postpone the project but finally last year I could go ahead. The concept was modified to fit my budget and again Rick spend extensive time to take measurements and advise on colors and which type of bricks to use.

Once the work started it was done very professionally according to the best practices (just as one example: there is a weeping tile behind the retaining wall, as well as gravel to avoid problems by freezing water in the winter which had "killed" my previous retaining walls).
Also work was done "in one shot" meaning once the work had started there were no interruptions or work on other projects in between etc.

An additional project was a wooden deck that was built behind the house. Also here the planning took into consideration my specific situation, needs and budget. The work was done in parallel to the work on the driveway. The deck is very solid and now going into the 2nd year I can't see any issues with it.

All in all I can really recommend Hofstetter Landscaping and I would (and most likely will) use them again.

Two things you should be aware of:
1) You get what you pay for. So Hofstetter is most likely not the cheapest landscaper you can find but you get a thorough planning, good quality materials and excellent work.
2) It is - like with all good contractors - a challenge to get an appointment for the initial planning sessions and then to schedule the actual work. So if you have a very urgent job, then it might be difficult. However a project my size is not something you come up with over night. So I personally rather wait a bit longer to get a good result than having it done quickly and regret it later.

The detail planning and execution of project was absolutely amazing. The complete transformation was done right with excellent results. Adding value and curb appeal. Still have people commenting on how nice everything looks

Two weeks ago we had this torrential rain and the water was coming out of my retaining walls like a falls. I wrote to Houzz asking for help.

Hofstetter Landscaping were some of the best contractors I have dealt with. They were punctual, hard-working, and flexible to customize my front yard according to my preferences. They were always respectful of the neighbours and provided great customer service. The result was well built and looks beautiful as it fits in nicely with the rest of my neighbourhood. My family and I recently had our walkway and front landing replaced by Hofstetter Landscaping. We contacted a company that sells the bricks we were interested in using and they suggested Hofstetter. After receiving a total of 3 quotes we went with Hofstetter due to their impressive portfolio and overall confidence. We agreed to start the work about a month later, in September, and they arrived bright and early on the agreed date. The entire job took no more than 3 days. The gentlemen were extremely professional, receptive and friendly. The end result was far better than I imagined. Just beautiful! My neighbours still stop me to compliment the workmanship. Not only do I recommend Hofstetter, I plan on using them for all my landscaping projects in the future. If I figure out how to add a picture to my review I will do so ASAP.
