In late 2018 we selected RS Homes as our Design and Build partner for our custom home build. The build is ~3500 square feet plus a finished basement and a pool.
Today (April 2020) we are about halfway through the project and we are very happy with RS Homes. Our project has faced a lot of external challenges (city, neighbourhood and COVID-19), but RS Homes has done a fantastic job of keeping the project moving in spite of these difficulties. The build quality and materials used are excellent.
As a customer, there are two traits that I have observed that I greatly appreciate about RS Homes' approach:
1) I am kept extremely well informed of the build project. I receive near-daily site updates that include pictures, weather, progress notes, challenges and solutions. This allows me to react quickly if I need to make a change, or to give a clearer picture of our vision for our home.
2) RS has been very fair to deal with in areas of conflict. No contract has perfect specifications, but how your builder works with you on resolving those specification gaps says a lot. We have had a number of changes that have been absorbed by RS. We have also had a number of changes that we agreed are new costs. And some changes we've met in the middle. With each of those discussions I came away believing that I was treated fairly by RS Homes.
We still have some ways to go on the final project, but I am very pleased with the project so far. I'm a proud RS Homes customer and can't wait for move in day!
