We wanted to expand our existing deck into a much more complicated, multi-level design. After experiencing deck issues in the past with previous contractors, we wanted to go with a trusted contractor, so we went to Home Depot and were put onto Ryan at Golden Valley Decks.

We gave our design idea to Ryan and he provided us with his recommendation on how to achieve what we wanted. He sat down with us, broke costs down for us (which when we did our own math, was exactly in line with our expectations - nothing hidden).

We were using Trex, and went back and forth a few times with Ryan until we arrived at a look that we were happy with. He never pressured us into doing more than we wanted. He provided a timeline and stuck to it. We asked for some changes along the way, and Ryan accommodated those changes, even though it meant some re-work for his team. The finished product was everything we thought it would be and we were extremely happy with it. There were a couple of items that we wanted to be tweaked just a little. True to his word, Ryan also came back and made those changes for us. This made us feel that we were a valued customer to him, and that if anything were to happen that Ryan would uphold his end of the guarantee that he provided.

I have NO issue recommending Ryan, and a co-worker has already had Golden Valley build a deck for him after my referral. We have received many compliments on the quality of work and how great the deck looks. We were very, very happy with our experience, and if we have to build another deck, I would not hesitate to call Golden Valley decks again.

Our deck exceeded our expectations thanks to Ryan and his skilled carpenters. Ryan gave us a better quality of materials and design. Our whole family is pleased. We would definitely recommend Ryan and his crew.

I chose Golden Valley Decks for 3 reasons.

1. Experience - Ryan and his team have tonnes of deck building experience using a variety of materials, including my choice of material - Ipe. He's also on Home Depot's vendor referral list, which in my view says a lot about his ability to manage projects.

2. Personality - Friendly, open, honest, accommodating (we made a few design changes along the way) and just an all around great guy to work with. This was a big deck (12 days construction), involving a difficult to handle hardwood, a rain diverting system (Trex Rainescapes) and a few other uncommon design items. I'm also a very 'involved' home owner, asking questions throughout the construction process which Ryan always handled with total professionalism.

3. Cost - Ryan is more than reasonable in what he charges. I did my homework, and can say without hesitation that Ryan is the only deck builder I'll ever call again, although given how this deck was built I'm not sure I'll ever need to build another deck, but will certainly and enthusiastically refer Ryan to any family and friends looking to build a deck.

Ryan and his company were very professional throughout the project. He sat down with us and helped lay out the plans. He let us know when the old deck would be removed and when the new material would arrive and when the job would start. We were actually away on vacation while the deck was built and came back to a beautiful new composite deck. Great job Ryan and thanks.

We connected with Ryan to setup sometime to get some ideas on the design of the deck and pricing.
Ryan stopped by at the agreed time and took detailed measurements and produced a couple of rough designs for us to review with easy to understand guidance on different options Materials (Cedar vs. Composite etc.) Brands and Add-ons.

We set a pretty aggressive date for the build to be complete (needed in time for our daughter’s birthday). Ryan committed to getting it done and build a schedule. The concrete work for the post anchors were done in advance and then the team dropped off all materials a day before starting. The attention to detail was great. The team was meticulous about leaving the area clean after the project was done (no debris/waste etc. left behind). The results exceeded our expectations.

Ryan's work is very good. We like the deck. Note: when Ryan's team builds the deck, they don't draw screw into the walls of house. They install more footings and the deck is detached from the house. We like this very much because it will not affect the house' structure. We are very happy with Ryan's work.

We hired Ryan to build our Cedar deck and BPT Fence. Right from the beginning Ryan was helpful and listened carefully to our needs and interests. We had lot of questions about different material options, permits, and designs and he took the time to explain everything thoroughly and he was attentive and very professional in all our dealings with him.
He provided us with different designs and worked with us to choose the best option. He gave us reasonable pricing options and he took care of the paperwork, drawings that needed for permit and inspections.
