We hired Matt to create a dining room built in unit to blend in with our 1929 wainscoting. We were looking for a unit which would house our wine glasses and more importantly - our poker chips! Matt created a gorgeous cabinet - including drawers sturdy enough to easily take the weight of the poker chips. We are thrilled with how the cabinetc turned out - we highly recommend Matt - attention to detail, he had excellent suggestions and provided detailed drawings before starting our job. We will use him again!

We hired Matthew to create and install a custom surround mantel for our gas fireplace. Matthew helped us with the design and ensured the surrounding woodwork met the specifications for the gas fireplace.

Matthew Tormey designed, built and installed an entertainment bench for our basement den for us to place all of our sound system components, including custom drawers to fit CD's and all the wiring for our flat TV just above it. We reviewed several designs which he developed for our review so there were no surprises! He helped us shop for barn wood (on a Sunday) for the top of the bench. He assembled the top by joining pieces from several different barn boards. He lacquered the top about five times to get it smooth. We are pleased!

I contracted Matthew to construct a custom built-in desk and cabinets. The design is pretty unique: the desk is electronically height-adjustable, and the counter-top is made of Corian. Matthew was patient and thoughtful during the lengthy design phase and ultimately produced a build that met my high expectations. Highly recommended!

We hired Matt to create two walls of built-ins, and a fireplace mantle in our family room, and truly could not have been more pleased with him. We are complimented daily on his work. He is conscientious, meticulous in his artistry, extremely reliable, unexpectedly tidy, and a pleasure to be around. Matthew removed old stairs and built new ones. He even stained the top of each stair to look like the hard wood floors. He also built shelving under the stairs for which we continuously receive compliments. He made great use of the space. In addition, he rebuilt the fireplace mantle to suit our style. He was professional at all times - he included computerized sketches of the work prior to beginning. He was always clean and courteous. I wish everyone showed the same respect and had the same degree of craftsmanship. I would highly recommend him.

We have hired Matt to complete many woodworking projects for us over the years. Recently, we had him build two custom built-ins incorporating several types of storage including hanging space, drawers and shelving. The overall style of the cabinetry fits in seamlessly with that of our house. Part of the project included combining the space from two existing closets in order to maximize the storage space in one of the bedrooms. As as result, we lost some linen storage in the hallway. Matt's corner cabinet linen storage solution was perfect and adds a beautiful focal point in our hallway. Matt also effectively managed several other contractors in order to complete an overall cosmetic facelift for our house. Matt is highly skilled, prompt, clean and reliable. Matt built us a beautiful oak two story staircase railing on budget, on time and with minimal interference with the rest of the household. My sister says it is a work of art, the way it matches our Edwardian house so well. We would certainly employ him again, and in fact have already done so. He has built us a deck, a fence and bathroom cabinets.
