Connect laundry tub (our supplies), bathroom faucet replacement

Don't touch them. These plumbers did a very average job, charged an exorbitant rate for a small amount of work. A plumber and apprentice arrived and of course we were charged the hourly rates for both. The plumber at the high hourly rate took off for almost 2 hours to buy a faucet. We provided the rest of the material for the laundry tub. Basically, the apprentice without supervision did the work.

Within weeks after the new faucet had been installed in one bathroom, the sink has cracked and must be replaced. The only bathroom sink they touched and it cracked - seems to be more than a coincidence. My husband is a senior and clearly they thought that they could take advantage of him. I asked as to the cost prior to the finish of the job and they said an invoice would be sent to us - it was and it was absolutely ridiculous - the cost of small parts were magnified by as much as 600% (we checked). We had a senior plumbing contractor review the invoice and the work and he was not impressed whatsoever. Proceed with caution and get a firm estimate as to cost and a warranty as to the work to be done so that - like us , you will not have to employ another plumber to fix any damage.

Approximate cost of services:
$741.00

Company Response

Plumbing Solutions was retained to complete various plumbing work for this customer, however once on site, the customer increased the scope of work. We walked the customer through the work required to fix each issue prior to starting work.
- The copper water lines in the basement were not supported on the vertical drop, as they were soldered directly into the old faucet, which was fed from the top. We had to add supports by drilling into the concrete to support these pipes properly, and then as the new faucet was fed from the bottom, and had no isolation valves, we had to install valves underneath and use braided supplies to feed the faucet. This was all shown to the homeowner, and work was approved to go forward.
- The bathroom sink pictured is original to the home and in poor condition. We changed the faucet for the customer, however any cracks that occurred later were likely due to its age, since a faucet install does not crack a sink basin.
- Plumbing Solutions went to the local Home Depot to pick up a new sink faucet, however the time to drive to Home Depot to make the purchase was not anywhere near 2 hours. This is an exaggeration.
- The faucet purchase cost was passed onto the customer with no markup.
- The customer provided partial payment for the work completed, but refused to pay the balance. After nearly 4 months of emails, the outstanding balance was sent to a collection agency. The outstanding balance was never paid. In retaliation for sending the outstanding balance to a collection agency, the customer posted an unfair and inaccurate review of our work.
- Other contractors beware of this customer!
