I really lucked out calling Alex at Pulsar Construction. I contacted him for a quote to replace stairs from Patio to Sundeck. He was the first to respond and the first to insist that he inspect the site to give a proper quote on what was asked of him. No obligation implied.
I was working long hours on night shift and was not able to meet with him so he inspected the site in my absence and made recommendations via text and email complete with pictures and links to products that would be appropriate for the job. He made a clear proposal of what he would do to uphold building codes and recommended building materials and quoted a very competitive price.
Pulsar Construction is a homeowners dream. I said let's go ahead on Monday and had a new set of stairs by late Wednesday afternoon. Most impressively he built them in place during a snow storm. The workmanship is immaculate and the stairs have a better rise and run than before. He showed up when he said he would and did any little extras that provided the best value for us.
Looking at the materials he brought for the stairs it is apparent that he spent quite a while selecting through the lumber pile.
Alex also provided info for post construction care should we want to paint or treat the wood in the future and recommended tread grips if you wanted them. The family cat already approves of the new stairs and has taken up residence on the third step down.

Alec did an amazing job! I'm so very impressed and so are all the neighbours. He tore out my old stairs in the back of our house and put in 14 new wooden steps. He took the time to explain everything he was doing and explained the materials he was using. He went extra to be sure they were safe. They are quality steps and look beautiful. He is so efficient and knowledgeable. Wonderful job, I'm so happy! I highly recommend.

Alex from Pulsar Construction just completed our front porch and stairs and we were thoroughly pleased with the project from start to finish. At the outset, Alex took the time to clearly explain product and design options and then provide us with a detailed quote.

I hired Alex after seeing my neighbor's deck and stairs which he had recently completed. Alex respects and follows the Building Code, used quality materials, and explained what needed to be done and why. As he progressed with the project, he explained what he was doing and why at each stage of the project. He has excellent design ideas. He began work when he said he would and stayed with the job until it was finished. He did not ask for money up front and there were no hidden charges when he finished. He and his most pleasant assistant kept the work site immaculate. Alex is a fine craftsman who takes pride in his work for good reason. The porch and stairs are built to last and look great adding to the value of my home. In the 27 years I have had carpentry work done on my home, Alex is by FAR the best: trustworthy, pleasant, hard-working, talented. He takes pride in excellence. Thank you, Alex.

Alex replaced a rotting deck post and the entire fascia which was warping due to moisture damage. He also built two new sets of pressure treated stairs, using the newer, nicer looking brown lumber. He was efficient, knowledgeable and very tidy in his work. The work area in our yard was spotless after he left. The stairs and fascia look immaculately cut and fitted. He is definitely a straight shooter to deal with, who will give his honest opinion of the work required and the right way to go about it. I got three estimates for the job, and not only was his the most reasonable, he was also the only one who explained things well and made useful suggestions rather than simply quoting whatever I had asked for.

We had very rotten front stairs that were slippery and dangerous. Alex and his wife came and he made us the most beautiful new set of stairs!! We are so happy with the results and would recommend him to anyone.

I first noticed there was something wrong with my old covered deck when I stepped on a soft spot and there was a lot of bounce to the floor. I peeled back some of the covered perimeter and noticed rot everywhere.

After calling around to a couple of other contractors, I noticed Pulsar's website and contacted Alex. Alex was prompt to reply and that was appreciated as I was afraid the deck would injure someone if it I didn't get it addressed ASAP. As Alex suggests on his website, he's often busy so email or text works best. After arranging a time to come out and visit my home, Alex came and wasted no time providing options. The deck was covered and there was a lot of hidden rot. We pulled some more of it back and he was really able to start talking options with me. Alex was not pushy or trying to force the most expensive option on me; he listed and provided a written quote immediately. After he left, I had some follow up questions and he took the time to email some additional information and we even talked a little more about options over the phone. I decided I was going to replace the deck and railings but leave the existing roof over the deck as well as the stairs since they were not requiring repair. We confirmed what I wanted and he promptly provided a timeline. Turns out he was able to start within a few days and that worked great for us.

My wife and I were originally drawn by the Pulsar construction website and we had a feeling that Alex really cared about his work from his pictures. I'm pleased to say that was 100% accurate and were amazed by Alex's attention to detail and amazing work. Alex was prompt each day, he always called me to let me know if he was going to be late and he even kept me up to date as he took the old deck apart and found more rot throughout. He's a true craftsman and cares about his work...he always had time to explain things and keep me up to date throughout the process. Alex even cleaned up after each day and removed the old deck debris away.

Both my wife and I really enjoyed meeting Alex and his wife Mila and it was a great experience. (A little hint...Alex loves double double coffee so keep it flowing!)

Pulsar Construction made me a beautiful and safe porch staircase and railing in a very timely manner. Once I contacted them, they started my project in only 10 days. I was concerned about the time since our old stair case very shaky and not safe. They offered to fix the old structure prior to making the new one Without any extra cost. They finished the job in two days and the new porch staircase railing is very steady and safe. It's also very beautiful and has enhanced my from door enterance. On top of it they are very nice and frindly people. I'm enjoying my front door very much and definitely recommend it to you :)
