Grand River Moving

My family had an amazing experience with the Grand River team. We got the packing and moving services; packing happened one day before the move.

The packing team (Alex, Fula (sp?), and Louis) was on-time, efficient, and friendly. They did an initial walk-through of the house and put together a strategy for dealing with the mountains of stuff.

The moving team was truly amazing and I am eternally grateful to Peng, Jordan, and Emanuel for their hard work. On one of the hottest days of the year, they worked like machines to get everything moved as efficiently as possible. They were also very strategic about the operation, and were able to fit our mountains of stuff into one load. They were friendly, engaging - it was a joy to have them as our movers. I would highly recommend this team!

RUN!! Save your time and money and stay far far away!! They took our deposit twice and were confirmed two days prior to the move. The day of the move they never showed up. No one answered the phone or returned our calls. When I finally heard back via email from Nicole she told me that she was assembling a crew and would have them to our house ASAP. We were told our fee would be discounted and an extra mover would come to help at no charge to help speed things up. 3 hours later no one. Had to contact Nicole again, to which she
eventually just ceased to respond to my emails or any
phone calls. Two movers showed up, not the 3 that were
promised. The movers themselves were great
(subcontracted). They told us they had only received the
call an hour before. When they were finished, the bill was
incorrect as it did not include the discount that we were
told by Nicole and also did not account for the extra deposit they had taken. We contacted Jesse (store
manager) to correct the bill before we paid it and his
immediate response was to yell and threaten to call the cops. When we said to go ahead as we did nothing wrong his next threat was that he was going to come down himself to give us the bill. He hung up on us when we tried to explain the situation. Rather than listen he chose to yell and threaten. I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism of this business and those running it. This place is an absolute embarrassment and a joke.

The movers of the company destroyed my queen size bed and my wooden desk. They were both brand new and it has been two years since I bought them. The movers wrapped a tape over the broken piece of bed to put it together which is completely deformed. The prices of them total were 741 CAD. Plus a lot of breakable stuff in the boxes that were wrapped in bubble wraps. I spoke to the representative and he offers 100 CAD for all these damages. When I said I don't accept he hung up the phone. They said the move is insured but he doesn't want to do a right way of estimating the damages through the insurance.

I booked with a lovely lady in the office and found her to be very helpful. Paid my deposit and come moving day they arrived perfectly on time. There were 4 fellows but I was assured I was only paying for 3 per my quote. There was minor damage done at the old and new location but things happen and I did not press the issue. The three young helpers were awesome, energetic, polite and very thoughtful. My issue arose when it was time for them to leave and travel to my new home. I was asked for the address which I gave to him he said he wanted the current address which I gave to him. I was told they would be having lunch and then heading to my place. My contract paid for 30 min travel time. 2 1/2 hours later they arrived at my new home. They said they did not have the address and emailed me but I am moving and not sitting at my computer checking emails. When I got billed I was charged the 2 1/2 extra hours at $185.00 / hr while they were MIA. I paid the bill because these were the movers the issue would have to be resolved by the office. I emailed the nice lady twice asking why I paid for their lunch hour and paid for their error in not keeping the address I gave them. WIth tax this is over $400. She has not acknowledged or responded to the emails or tried in any way to resolve this. The lack of response has left me feeling taken advantage

I called Jesse twice in order to make sure movers show up on time as I have strict condo rules and time slot for moving in. Movers showed up 4 hours late. As a result The Board of Directors is charging me a fee. Not accounting for a stress I had that the elevator would not be available. Despite the fact that Grand River Moving charged me $1000 above the quote they refused to provide with any discount.
Avoid this company.

i cannot steer you clear enough. Over 4 hours late the day of my move, and no one called me to say that they'd be late. I had to keep calling to find out what was going on. The movers themselves were great, though they told me they didn't have to wear masks on a smaller move, and therefore didn't while in my house. But they were super quick and super friendly. It's Sarah in the office that is an absolute nightmare. Snarky emails back, calling me impatient and disrespectful. Nicole in the office had kindly offered me a small reimbursement in lieu of the inconvenience I went thru at having my move postponed 2 days because of them. Which was great, however when I emailed several times to follow up and see if they needed my cc info to refund, I was met with a super rude email back calling me impatient. To which I of course responded letting them know what I thought of that, and eventually the email back I got was telling me I was rude and I wouldn't be getting any money back from them because I was disrespectful. I'm sorry, I was just following your lead Sarah.
Complete lack of professionalism from the office. which is too bad because they have good reviews, but heaven forbid they do something wrong....the nightmare begins then.

I booked this company for a local move within Kitchener on Feb 1st 2021. They took a deposit of 179.00 off of my credit card at the time of booking and they sent me a contract with all of the details via email. They were to show up between 2 and 5 pm. I called around 9am the morning of Feb 1st to confirm that everything was good to go and they had my correct contact information. The phone was answered promptly, read off the cell phone number they had on file (which was correct) and the woman I spoke to assured me that the guys would call when they were on their way. A great experience up until then.
However, 2pm came and went without any communication. I decided when I hadn’t heard anything by 3:30 I would give a call to see if they had any information regarding the ETA. There was no answer and it kept going to the Manager's voicemail. Long story short, I did not hear from anyone at the company. Not only did the movers not show up at all leaving me completely stranded, no one has followed up to my numerous voicemails and emails at all. And no one bothered to answer the phone at all until February 3rd. I cannot believe the horrendous treatment I received.
Luckily I found another moving company to assist me on February 2nd. I have received my deposit back. However, I should note I had to chase them for it. They did not contact me at all. I did not receive a phone call or a response to my emails. When, they finally answered the phone on February 3 2021 after multiple attempts to contact them, the woman I spoke to was very careful not to apologize or admit fault. She told me that she would refund my deposit and call me back with an explanation as to what happened. As I said, my deposit was refunded but I have not received a phone call to explain what happened.

I cannot understand how this company manages to get any positive reviews. Our move was a disaster. The packers were late and had little or know packing material other than boxes. They used our linen and our packing material to pack without even asking. The movers were hours late both loading and unloading. The owner swore and hung up on us as we tried to explain that the bolts for our bed were missing which resulted on us sleeping on the floor as we searched for
replacements which were difficult to find. Any attempts to reach them after the move proved fruitless. They damaged almost every piece of furniture we had. I cannot emphasis enough, do not use this company.

We moved into a new house & used grand river moving they showed up on time & were very professional & went above & beyond I would absolutely recommend them for anyone needing to move. Worth every cent made moving way less stressful

Thanks Jessie for sending us a team of excellent workers who knew exactly how to manoever furniture through tight hallways and door openings. They prepared all our goods for transport exceptionally well and worked quickly and efficiently to make our move possible. I appreciated your flexibility when I had to reschedule at the last minute. Great service !
