Call out charge & no work done

We contacted this company for our stove, that was indicating an error message (FO) and at times the oven would shut off while in use. We completed the online form as to our info and what the problem was. We indicated the type of stove, serial number, make, etc. Also the info on the order form (below)
What's it doing?
Has an error code FO and does not reset. Not sure what the issue is.

A call-out appointment was set. The Technician came out and within minutes he indicated what the problem was and it couldn't be repaired. Also that he knew right away what the problem was when he saw it. I inquired why then did someone need to come out when the problem could've been diagnosed by the call out work order and info provided ?
The Tech admitted they were not told of the issue (or seen the order form filled out) or he would've known ????
I don't understand why that would not have happened and could've told us then ?
This way of doing business is totally wrong and we have no recourse here to pay for a call out and no work done. I wouldn't use a company that does business like this.

Our call takers don't know appliances, they take the call. Our techs go to the calls to see what is wrong. Why do you think we'd pay techs hourly to go through calls while they are out on the road?

You have no idea what your talking about and trying to diagnose over the phone is far more time consuming because now your asking the customer to do the job of the tech. This is completely ridiculous and we're thankful you won't call again.

Predatory Pricing Model - Dishwasher Door Spring Repair

I was charged $150 for a service man to come to my house and tell me what I told him, that my dishwasher door spring was broken and needed to be replaced.

Prior to booking the service, I was informed that there would be a $150 call-out cost, but if I chose to have them do the repair, it would be applied to my project quote, but what was actually meant is that it would be added to the project quote, which came in just shy of $380 to install a $75 part with an estimated time of under an hour.

When the technician came to install the part that he had diagnosed it was very clear he did not examine the part that was broken at all since he was unable to pull the dishwasher out (not his fault, just showed he didnt actually properly diagnose the problem which I was charged $150 for).

If he had of done his job in the first place he would have at least not wasted more of my tenants time when he came back out.

I was frustrated and found your advertising very misleading. If you had of been upfront with me and told me it was going to be $380 to repair my dishwasher, I would not have had your company come out. Please be upfront with your customers as this is clearly the minimum repair cost given you ADD not apply the callout cost to your repairs.

I did follow-up with the owner on this, and his response was, "It is what it is".

I am sure this company does fine work, and appreciated their timely response, but their cost quoting felt very predatory, so please be weary before calling for your callout.

Hello again Scott,

He's missing ALOT of what was said and taking things out of context here.

Yes sometimes we get bad parts, less than 1% of the time and we don't open the boxes or examine every single part which a tech can have hundreds on board, it's frustrating especially for us to eat the return trip cost but it happens and the other solutions we've found to combat this were not cost effective for anyone either. So we do return free of charge which I think is fair.

I actually had a conversation with Scott on the phone and read our call out statement to him which every customer gets in their email and went over other ways it could be written, as I've done before with other customers to see how we can improve it. Eventually landed on what it is now with roughly a complaint rate of 1-3000 customers which is FAR better than it was 7 years ago where it was 1-50 customers, however Scott said he couldn't find a better way to put it and just continued on with were scamming people. However listed in review responses, on my website and in our terms of service it says it multiple times how our call out works, that we are not the cheapest option there are many fly by night companies that pop up and we don't compete with them as they rotate out of business almost yearly. We are priced fairly and don't work for free which is the basis of what Scott wanted. He wants us to work for free for most of our time spent on a call ( which is driving, pick up's and basically a good tech spends way more time driving than actually working on appliances, about 80% of my day is driving, if we didn't get paid for all time associated with a call honestly no one would do this job, items in the shop get charged out as the customer does all the driving so its just time on project, but no one brings stuff down to the shop anymore) however we won't and we wouldn't go into business with a customer who does want this.
That all being said we do have "cheaper" options for the DIY people who run into snags, if you call us with the part #s we can direct quote you over the phone, just you take the liability of being wrong as opposed to us, we do have myself that will answer customer questions if they request it to try and avoid these issues, however you need to ask the questions to find the answers you need, 99% of our customers just want to call in, get someone out and that's it, so we don't go over every single option we have available for every scenario, you'll have to use some questions if you fishing for something different.

Scotss calls and emails threatening to post this fishing for free service lead to the " it is what it is" commen, and go ahead and post your review. So here we are.

Again we apply the call out to a quote once we figure out what the issue is. The quote generated applies all aspects of the job and it says this in our call out statement. Scott just wanted it to be free as in no charge at all, which we would never do.
If anyone comes up with a better way to write our call out statement I'm willing to change it immediately, however it's written in there 2 different ways for different ways that people interpret things. It's been very successful.

Fridge Diagnosis/Repair

My fridge stopped cooling on Dec 23! I called around in a panic to see if anyone was open. Called one company, said they'd make it out for 4PM. At 4:20PM the company called me to say they couldn't make it and said they'd reschedule etc etc...

Monday came, and I contacted Quality Appliance Repair on a recommendation for a friend, and I'm glad the other company didn't come!

The whole process was super easy and efficient -- request a quote online and they set up a next day appointment.

Darcy came in their given window, was super courteous and professional. He explained to me what the problem was in a way that I understood, then gave me some quick solutions to the issue rather than just throw parts at the fridge. I appreciate that!

Hoping the fridge doesn't need further repairs, but if it does, I know who I'm calling. I would definitely recommend this company!

Washing Machine repair

Quality Appliance Repair was referred to me by a friend. I phoned them on a Saturday morning and explained the issue I was having with my 10 year old washing machine. T helped me troubleshoot over the phone and together we solved the problem at no cost to me. He could have done a call-out but he chose not to charge me unnecessarily. He taught me how to solve the problem if it happens again. I would recommend T and definitely contact him again.

Dishwasher repair with hidden charges

Skilled technician who fixed our leaking dishwasher in 30 minutes.
However, there were hidden and deceitful charges on our bill. The invoice was only sent to me after specifically requesting it. In addition, I had to ask for a breakdown of costs and the responses were ambiguous. It is a very dodgey business practice not being able to provide costs on labor work.

Do not let the $40 discount or reimbursement of the diagnosis charge trick you. They will charge you more than anticipated without explanation. See attached invoice.

Would not recommend or use again

We send an email explaining charges before we ever go out. Then when we know the issue we give you an "all in quote" includes the whole job, so you know your exact costs, before we start the repair. You either accept it or decline it in which case we get paid out for the time it took to figure out the issue your unit is having.
So in a year we have about 5000 customers and I'll have this conversation with about 20 of them who don't read it the way it was intended to be read. Which is fine we are all different.

If the quoted repair cost isn't to your liking please don't accept the quote, then turn around trying to get money off after the work is done. Dealing after the work is done is weird.
We wouldn't have done the job for less, we charge what the job takes to get done. You see a tech for 30 minutes however with the return trips, part pick pick up's and everything else that's needed to make sure your job is serviced properly and with a skilled tech like you just said we have to pay them for their hours of service. They don't do 3hours of work getting you all lined up to get paid for 30 minutes. Which a few of you think they should. So we give an all in quote to speed up the process. This is what the job is worth, this is what you'll pay and what we will do it for, before we even begin repairs.

Dryer repair

I called Quality Appliance Repair to look at my 30 year old dryer which sudenly stopped working.  I was concerned that I may be looking at spending money to purchase a new machine.  The Service Tech came, assessed the issue and my 30 year old  machine is in perfect working condition again.
I will definitely call Quality Appliance Repair again if I have issues with any of my other appliances (including my 30 year old washing machine).

Fridge running warm...

Over the August long weekend, my fridge started to run warm. Was able to make an on-line appointment with Quality Appliance Repair for Tuesday morning. Trent and Chris turned up on time, took a look...and nicely pointed out my user error (fridge had been set at the warmest level not the coldest--apparently the coldest setting is the highest number--seems a bit counter intuitive to me...but that is how life goes sometimes).

It was a bit of a costly user error (service fee), but they could they have told me that I needed an expensive part and replaced something and charged me a bundle--and I would have been none the wiser...

It is nice to know that there are honest people out there...I would highly recommend them and would use them again...
