Terry and his crew arrived right on time and installed 20 feet of cedar trees in record time, giving us the beginnings of privacy in our backyard. We tried having this done two years ago, but they were overwhelmed with requests during the pandemic and had to shut their email down. I was delighted this Spring when they finally reopened their email and responded favourably to our request.
When we bought our house in 1990, there were no houses behind ours. Then the local cemetery sold off its excess land to developers, who promptly cut down the numerous trees and built monster homes. It was tolerable when we were both working, and before the Birch tree lost half its branches in the 2013 ice storm, and then the ornamental cherry tree died, leaving a large gap. Now that were both retired, the lack of privacy had become more bothersome. The monster home directly behind ours is farther up the hill, allowing them to see directly into our family room anytime the drapes are open.
While the 10 feet high cedars that were installed dont give us complete privacy (at least not yet), Terry assured us that with proper care, and yearly trimming, they will thicken up nicely, and we should have a decent amount of privacy within three or four years.
It was definitely worth the wait, and I would highly recommend The Cedar Guys to anyone who would like the promise of near instant privacy. They can provide cedar trees ranging from 5-6 feet to 9-10 feet tall, which they plant closely together to create an instant hedge.
In the pictures below, the first is the Before photo. The second picture is the After photo, which shows the finished hedge. I was delighted to see that they planted the tallest and thickest of the trees in line with the windows of the house behind us so that we already have the beginnings of privacy.
They worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves, and gave detailed instructions on how to care for our cedar hedge, including when and how to trim it to help it to thicken up. Definitely a company one could recommend to friends and family with no reservations.
