Man With A Wrench

The door broke on my microwave. The first technician who came to my home had no experience repairing this model and he broke the inner door and left the broken parts on my counter. Another technician called without warning to say he was on his way but he never showed up. I then decided to obtain the parts myself and after much research I chose "Man with a Wrench". I was impressed that this company has a commercial premise and their technicians are factory trained and experienced (unlike many other companies who operate as dispatch service only and who take no responsibility for who they send out). When I contacted Chris at "Man with a Wrench" he advised me to email him pictures of the parts that I have obtained in order to ensure that I had the correct parts so as not to waste my money paying for a service call that could not be completed because I did not have the right parts. Thankfully I had all the parts and the same day I sent the email with the pictures of the parts I had an appointment for the next business day - Feb. 22, 2021. Despite a severe snow-storm the 2 service technicians (Oleg and Archie) arrived at the allotted time and repaired my microwave. They both wore personal protective equipment and they took the extra precaution of flipping the breaker to the microwave. "Man with a Wrench" was professional, helpful, reliable, and their fee was reasonable. I would have no hesitancy in recommending them to any-one with an appliance issue.

As we thought we had issues with both our washer and dryer, it turned out that the washer was fine and the dryer may have required to have the board replaced, but Oleg mentioned that it wasn't worth it based on the age of the units (15 years). I appreciate Oleg's honesty and professionalism and would recommend this company in a heartbeat!

From start to finish an equitable, professional service. Prompt response to my request for a quote. The pleasant, helpful woman who called back gave me good flex times the following day. Alex called ahead of time, arrived on time and was just the best fellow! Worked diligently and was mindful of my physical and financial limitations. I am positive I was charged less than standard for fridge and dishwasher repair. Will recommend this place to all of my friends. Thanks again to Alex!

To save me money, Alex walked me through some basic repair before sending someone over to my place, on two separate calls. I was very impressed by his data driven approach to appliance repair and focus on customer service. In the end, I was able to fix the dishwasher myself for free. I'll definitely use Man With A Wrench for plumbing and appliance repair. Highly recommend!

Update: I wrote the review below based on my initial contact with the customer service after my stove broke down again 6 months after the service call. While the first response from “Man with a Wrench” was frustrating, they did end up following up and addressing the issue in a respectful manner. The owner, Alex, gave us a call and explained that there was a misunderstanding, took responsibility for his company’s part in the problem, and offered some possible solutions for us to choose as a next step. We agreed on a solution that felt fair to both parties. I was impressed by the extra steps Alex took to make things right. Thanks for being a responsible company.

I usually never write a review, but I am very disappointed with May with a Wrench. I can understand when things go well that this might be an efficient and professional company. Many reviews say this and it is the reason I chose it for my oven repair. However, less than 6 months after the service call, the same piece has stopped working again.

When I called, I was offered almost no support. They said it was past the 3 month labour warranty so I would simply need to book a new service call. I pressed further and the next option I was told was to call GE directly about the malfunctioning part. Finally, I asked a few more questions and the representative pointed me to their own website where it says that the part is under a 1-year warranty. The fact that this wasn't pointed out to me at the beginning of the call feels like they would rather just leave me to deal with the issue myself and not bother them.

So now, I am apparently supposed to contact another type of customer service through the website and see if they will offer me a solution. For me, good customer service and professionalism doesn't just cover when things are working well or before the money has been paid. It also includes how a company handles issues after the services have been performed. In this case, I cannot recommend Man with a Wrench for the way they have left me hanging after a problem has arisen.

Worked with Alex to service our furnace just a few days before we put our house on the market.

After diagnosing the issue correctly the first time on the first visit the team sourced a part that was needed, with excellent communication and installed it 24 hours later. I appreciated being kept informed the whole time and allowed to make budget conscious decisions with all of the information in front of me.

Furnace now runs excellently and super quietly. I am very happy with everything and would highly recommend to others.

What an excellent experience! We set up a zoom consultation with Alex and he diagnosed our dishwasher problem quickly and then walked us through how to detach, clean and reattach our drain pump - all on video chat. Alex was helpful, patient and was able to talk two people that know nothing about fixing appliances through the whole process. The fact that we got his expert walkthrough for free and 100% fixed our problem seems to good to be true. This is such a generous and excellent service. HIGHLY recommend!

Alex was quick to reply and thorough with his advice. He sent over Nazar, who is very detailed and patient. I called them initially for a leak at the garage water source and to instal new bidets. From that appointment, he found out other leaks that could have caused a lot of water damage. Thanks, Alex and Nazar!

I booked a virtual appointment to repair my microwave and Alex called exactly at the arranged time. He was very polite and helped me to troubleshoot. It fixed the problem so I was able to cancel the in person visit. They did not charge for this. I can highly recommend their service and will definitely call them again if needed.

Company was very responsive and priced competitively. They sourced the part and provided a technician very quickly.

The actual technician visit wasn't great. The work was done and the appliance worked as expected afterwards - but the visit itself left a lot to be desired and I told them so.

Alex, the owner, contacted me right away - was extremely professional and helpful - and turned my experience right around. I am quite impressed and I have no hesitations in recommending this company. I will certainly be using them again in the future.
