Brian's Masonry

For about a year we had a scarred up section of a house where a rotted out external retaining wall had to be removed. To make matters worse, the cinder block replacement looked terrible.

Enter Brian, whom we found on Homestars. He made several excellent recommendations, replaced the damaged bricks with almost an exact match and addressed the retaining wall issue by veneering in slate. It looks GREAT and passed Brian's just try and pull that slate off test.

Brian did an excellent job changing my windows sill with beautiful limestones very nice and clean . He was very professional in his job and would highly recommend him.

Brian immediately diagnosed the problem as an old collapsing liner and not just blockage in the chimney, so saved us money in the long run not doing work that would not have solved the cause of the problem. He pulled out the old liner, which was essentially disintegrating, inserted a new liner and insulation to prevent any vibrations, put on the new cap, and fully caulked the top, and recemented the hole in the furnace room, from having to chip out the old cement to enable the removal of the old liner and blockage. FYI, Brian told us aluminum liners for gas furnaces have a useful life of 10 years or so (ours was 20+) and should be replaced to avoid long-term problems.

Brian did an excellent job cleaning the chimney and doing cement repairs and general clean-up of the area around my 94 yr old Mom's old oil furnace at her home in East York. He was very kind and patient with my Mom who shared her life story and did extra work to help her out. Would highly recommend him.

I had to hire Brians services after my below grade entrance contractor made a hash on the brick work around the basement entrance and egress windows. I contacted Brian to help me rework and make the brick work acceptable and also to prevent leaks in future. Brian sent me a professional quote detailing the scope of his work and cost. Brian was punctual and very detail oriented. He and his crew finished the job very well to our satisfaction and cleaned the job site very well. At the end I requested but more change to the work which meant that Brian had to remove 2 rows of bricks already laid.
