A Stubborn Clog

Jason was recommended by a fellow plumber, who had no luck unclogging a stubborn fat berg lodged in my kitchen sink drain pipe. Jason came the next day, at the appointed time, and made short work of it …without a big fuss. He knows what he’s doing and has the requisite experience. There was no attempt on his part to make the job any more difficult seeming than it was and he made sure nothing leaked before he left.
Jason is highly recommended, definitely my tradesman of first choice.

Prompt and honest service

Jason reached out to us offering to help winterize our hose bib and gave an estimate based on some photos we provided. He came out the next day and actually gave us two options on how to solve the problem. A $50 one and a $300-500 one. He didn't push for the more expensive option and took the time to explain everything related to getting our hose bib ready for the winter.

Will certainly be contacting Jason for any other plumbing needs for our house.

Faucet replacement

Requested a plumber on homestars and Jason was the first to respond. He arrived on time and performed the work as agreed. He went even further to recommend I replace some other parts that had a minor issue. He triple checked the the faucet and assemble.

I would recommend Budget Rooter to anyone that needs some work done.

Thank you Jason.

Replacing an existing old toilet

We had to replace an existing toilet in the basement and Jason delivered excellent service. Because the existing toilet is an 11.5 inches rough in toilet, we sent him links for 3 toilets to make sure that they can be installed. He recommended a toilet that is of better quality, in the same price range and can be installed with 11.5 rough in. He showed up on time and finished the toilet installation quickly and perfectly. He also recommended a tap that will fit our vanity better. We are very satisfied with his service, reasonable price and his professionalism. We will not hesitate to go for him again in the future or recommend his service to anyone in need.

Honest Plumber, make sure you use them for a second opinion unless you like ditching out your hard earned money.

We had a backed up main sewer line in our second residence and required professional assistance to clear it out. We were not able to be on-site for the initial visit so had to rely on remote communication.

Once I placed my backed up sewer request on Homestars, I received multiple responses from the big chain plumbers and I was also contacted by Budget Rooter. After speaking with Jason, I wanted to proceed with giving him the service, however he was not able to make it to our home until a few days later and since the water was backed up and damaging the basement floors we had the first company on site clear our backed up pipe. During initial our conversation, Jason had mentioned that he would be available to provide a second opinion and to feel free to reach out to him with any questions that we may have. The first company on site had shared a video and advised that the whole sewer pipe would need to be replaced and gave a 10K-15K+ estimate. The second big chain on site gave similar quote.

I shared that video with Jason from Budget Rooter, and he was able to provide me with multiple second opinions and options to resolve our issue.

Of course replacing the whole sewer line is always an option, but that is also equivalent to saying that every time that someone has an issue with their vehicle that they should get a new one, as opposed to attempting to fix the issue. The big companies just want to scare you into thinking that your only option is to replace everything, taking advantage as you are in a vulnerable situation and make you feel pressured that there are no other options which is how they make their commission.

Once Jason was on site, he asked if he can take another look with his own camera, so that he do his own assessment. The first thing that he noticed was that the first company on site could have cleared the whole blockage (tree roots has gotten in), as opposed to just partially clearing it, and making several exaggerated comments in their video to make it seems like all there was a huge disaster in the pipes and that the only option was to replace the whole pipe. Jason advised that they can cut the roots that penetrated the clay sewer pipeline with pressure washer (hydrocut) and that there was not any major damage to the pipeline that warranted that the whole line would need to be replaced. Changing to PVC line is a long term solution, however not a requirement.

If you actually break down the cost of replacing the whole line vs hydro cleaning the pipes every couple of years, you clearly win by just cleaning out the pipes cost wise.

I would like to thanks Jason for his honesty and willingness to answer questions regardless of whether he was the one that we choose to go with. He also was very responsive and easy to reach and super friendly. Kudos to Jason for wanting to truly help you out and provide an alternative, rather than to dig up everything like every other companies wanted to do.

I highly recommend that everyone reach out to Budget Rooter for their great customer service but more so for their true honesty.

Broken drainage pipe

Spectacular service. We discovered our laundry drain was backing up- hoping that it would just be a clog, we called budget rooter to bring a snake through. Turns out the pipe was broken/cracked and was filled with roots. Jason quickly thought of a cost efficient solution to redirect the drainage to the main drain (after confirming that the laundry drain was separate). Him and his assistant even came at night to finish the job quickly. To top it off, he ran his camera through our main drainage pipe to ensure there were no issues, and let me watch through it. Great work, very clean and polite.

Leaking Toilet

Bought a new home and realized the powder room toilet leaks! This had ruined the drywall and flooring in the basement. I've called many plumbers that didn't even bother to get back to me (most likely because it was not a big enough job) except for Jason! On his time off no less!

My timing was flexible, Jason was very communicative every step of the way, even when he was running late. He fixed the toilet, changed out the pump and valve and cleaned out my drain and made recommendations with no pressure while educating me on the issues, which I appreciate!

I felt he was honest, knowledgeable and very fair in pricing. I would definitely recommend him to anyone I know.

Basement floor drain clean out

We had a floor drain in the basement that stopped draining entirely.

I called Jason, and he came out the same day. Jason and his assistant were very professional, courteous and explained what they would do to fix the problem. They also provided a very competitive price for the work.

Jason was able to clean out the drain with an opener (drain snake). When they packed up and left, the area looked like they had never been there. Very tidy.

I would recommend Budget Rooter and use them in the future.
