Student Works Window Cleaning

We had the eavestroughs on both our house and garage cleaned out, interior and exterior windows washed on a two-story house, and Rainex installed on the exterior windows. Washing the windows also included cleaning the tracks which I know from personal experience is a time-consuming job. The two students spent almost four hours and did a superb job. They were courteous and professional and left no mess behind them--not always the case with workers.

Cooper Hewgill and his team did a fabulous job. They showed up on time, were completely professional, and did the job as requested and I am more than satisfied with the results. They also completed some extra work that came to light on the spot. I couldn't recommend Cooper and his team more highly.

Follow up by the team leader when we said the job was not completed as contracted was sarcastic and rude. Very unprofessional approach and a total lack of customer service. When I complained about the poor follow up the response from the the leader was "thank you". No apology, no follow up.

I was initially impressed with the binder and resume provided during the initial quote as well as how the student Manager presented himself but my experience went downhill from there. I had arranged an appointment time around my work schedule however the students arrived 2 hours early, washed the exterior, and left before I arrived home. My neighbour let me know they had been and gone and when I contacted the student Manager they did return. From there it felt my windows were rushed and were simply sprayed and wiped down, didn’t open the windows or wash the tracks. When I opened the windows while the students were packing their car, I realized this and they then answered “my bad” and quickly wiped out the tracks. The screens remained where I left them the night before in the driveway and would not have been cleaned if I hadn’t told them it was part of the contract to do so. I also pointed out a window still had smudges from my dog’s nose on it and they told me it was dirt between the window panes, I later inspected it more closely and it was easily removed with my own windex. Finally, the quote was made for 1 more window than cleaned due to a window air conditioner and the student Manager would only take $10 off the price claiming this had already been considered during the quote, even though the quote listed a larger number of windows. Finally, when I told the student window cleaner that the $10 should be deducted from the subtotal and result in an adjustment of the tax they refused to do so. I decided it wasn’t worth $3 to argue and at this point just wanted them out of my house.

I am so disappointed and angered. The hardware was not washed or greased as indicated and the cleaning job was sub-par. I unfortunately would not recommend this service despite wanting to support students and their eduction.

This was my first experience with Student Works . I was very pleased with the completed job. The students were professional, curtious, respectful and made sure I was happy with the entire job before leaving. KUDOS to the MGM for great hires !

We had our exterior windows and siding cleaned after 10 years, so they were definitely in need. Excellent work by great youth. Professional, timely, respectful. Definitely would recommend them again

SW did a fantastic job this summer. Very nice staff who worked hard with perfect results. I look forward to getting them back next year and Curtis was exceptional with his friendly customer service. I will continue to refer them to my friends and neighbours in my community. On top of all that I’m so glad to have helped out university students during the summer!

When I spoke to Riley he did offer me a refund of $30.00 This refund was conditional on me removing my review. I told him I wasn't willing to remove the review and the amount of refund wasn't adequate. A sliding door and a patio door were missed not two windows. Some of the windows that were done had streaks and squeegee marks. As I mentioned earlier it was a very hot day so possibly they didn't use enough cleaner.
At no time did I argue or demand that I wanted a full refund. To the contrary I told Riley that I didn't expect to get anything for free but expected a partial refund.
I want to close this discussion. If Student Works want to issue an unconditional refund of $30.00. I will accept this as a resolution and move on. They have my address and can mail me a cheque.

Edit: I was contacted by Riley a manager at Student Works. He did offer a $30.00 discount if I removed my review. He also offered to return to redo our windows. I declined both offers. I think $50 would be more reasonable. I didn’t expect a full refund.
Because they were late and didn’t do the job as per the contact I suggested his guys maybe needed more training and weren’t very professional. He said I was rude. I told him this was the end of the conversation. I didn’t appreciate being insulted and hung up the phone.
He did say that they receive about 12 complaints in 100.

I was contacted by Student Works window cleaning the end of June. I agreed to having our windows cleaned at a set date and time. On the date and time no one showed up to complete the work. An hour after the arranged time I decided to call the sales contact. He informed me that someone would arrive within 1/2 an hour. 2 guys showed up at my house 1-1/2 hours after my scheduled appointment and proceeded to clean my windows. In all fairness to them it was a hot day and they may have been running behind schedule. Someone should have called to inform me if they were running behind schedule.

It took them approximately 45 minutes to clean 45 windows. This would mean they averaged 2 minutes per window. This includes ladder setup and removal. I think it would be impossible to properly clean a window in two minutes.
I paid them upon completion. I was home but didn't watch over their work. When they left I realized they didn't clean 1/2 a sliding door or my lower level patio door because the screens were locked from the inside. I planned to unlock them prior to them arriving but forgot. When they discovered the doors were locked they should have asked me to unlock them. When I did an inspection I could see that the windows must have been drying quickly. There are many streaks and squeegee marks.
I contacted the sales person to inform him. He offered to come back at a later date to redo the windows. I declined because it is a very busy time of year and it's difficult for me to schedule another appointment. I believe I should have been offered a partial refund.

We have our windows cleaned every year. This is the first time using Student Works. Based on my experience I wouldn't recommend them.

Rep came to my home (door to door) looking for business. Gave me an evaluation and price right on the spot. Set appointment date right away for the beginning of the season.

Date selected: Punctual arrival (07:00 am), work completed on time and vey well done.

Manager responded promptly to service request and was on time and very professional. The window cleaner took his time to do a good job and was also very professional. I recommend this company and will use it again.
