They showed up within 3 days of requesting a quote. the quote was sent to me by email I was able to pay my deposit (15%) online and work was completed within their deadline. They were polite and professional while doing the work and actually cleaned the road once they were done working. Very satisfied

Our driveway was completely excavated and repaved as it was the original driveway from 1959 and had various layers of patching done over the years. Due to COVID, we experienced delays, but once they started - they did a fantastic job. They made sure the slope of the driveway drained away from the house and the site was cleaned upon completion. As an aside, we have been asked if we heated the driveway as with our recent storm...the snow seemed to just melt away!!

After speaking with the owner over many phone calls, the job was completed to mine and my neighbors full satisfaction and very pleased with the results. The process of having a second driveway put on my property in Ottawa was a painful and frustrating ordeal. NOT because of the efforts by Samy and his staff, but because of the nitpicking and hoops that were put into place by the city bylaw dept. Start to finish it took 18 months of constant paperwork and numerous phone calls. Most companies would certainly never invest so much energy into something that was clearly not their resposibility. Samy very bravely took on the task of getting all paperwork in order ( no small feat when dealing with a government department). My local councilman couldn't even help me! Throughout this whole arduos
process Samy kept me well informed and up to date on what was the next step.
Finally, the go ahead was given and my driveway was the last one done in the 2020 season. I can't express how impressed I was by this man and his company. This sort of above and beyond service is not something one sees in the business world these days. This company prides itself on giving the best effort and product that they can. I will certainly use them in the future should the occasion arise.

COVID-19 has caused delays all over the world in all endeavors. Black Tar was not immune from this either. Even so, they kept us informed of what was going on as the due date came and went. They arrived one Thursday and removed the current driveway asphalt. The next Thursday they were here and paved the driveway. It looks good they were professional and conducted themselves with safe work practices. We are pleased with the results and the price was reasonable.

Firstly, I paid the down payment in June of 2018, and the driveway got pave in June of 2019.
Secondly the down payment was more than $13,000, because the project is big. They promised that they got it done in 2018, but they couldn't.
Thirdly, they're not professional to do a large job. The leveling was very badly designed for the main part of driveway (similar to a parking lot) on the front of garages. This will cause a lot of issues during freezing winters.
Fourthly, the connection section between the public road and my private parking lot was paved without shoulder. The asphalt is about 3 inches higher than the road base on both sides. On some parts, the pavement didn't align with the existing driveway and go off the road. It created more than 20 cm drop from the edge of asphalt pavement.
At the last, Black Tar claimed all of these are normal, and they don't want to fix any.
