Install laminate floor

A cautionary tale here. I thought I was hiring D&M Stucco Interior, instead turns out to be another company. Not sure how that happens but some of that should be on HomeStars. No disclosure? This on the surface does not seem to be hiring a subcontractor, since the initial contact was from, and I thought I was dealing with D&M, all along, only to discover when the quote was provided it was the other company all along.

While Duane, was communicative and timely, there were issues with attention to detail and customer service.

Site visit was conducted but no measurement was taken - "took my verbal word" for estimated size. There was some need for work on the existing floor to level it and that was completed on time and satisfactorily. They should have anticipated a couple of relatively minor cable issues.

We were given a quote from the other company, for leveling work and installing the floor, but were required to purchase the floor. While that is not overly problematic, we were never told to purchase underlay, so on the install day, we had a problem.

They did not initially install threshold transitions in 2 key areas and were short flooring, which resulted in having to order more flooring. Left job without completing the new quarter round, or transitions. Actually, I was told I could install quarter round and transitions myself.

While Duane came back to complete the work installers refused to do, the overall end product was substandard and could have been avoided with a little more attention to detail and better communication.

In the end, I got a new floor, but not happy that a couple of minor, small details could have been avoided and I am now left with a less professional-quality installation and the simple task of cables concealed having been done.

Pictures tell a thousand words, how do you walk away and leave the cable like this? Should tell you all you need to know. No decent contractor does this.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,900.00

Company Response

Client said he was happy with flooring also i had to wait 4 days to paid after the job was done lots of delays on client side but I was willing to accommodate him but as you can tell in his review no accommodation i even consider putting on quarter rounds for free never part of my estimate I just did it freely lots of sacrifices for the client but apparently I did everything poorly
