Hi Rita,

I'm glad you're both very happy with your new driveway and sidewalk. Much safer without all those deep cracks with different heights on either side... another sign of poor workmanship from the original contractor who didn't use plastic chairs to hold the rebar in the center of the slab.

I typically don't get requests by email so it was a surprise to find out it was you, right after your good friend Al H had given me your number.

Now you both can point and smile at your new driveways LOL.

Hi Tom,

Yes yours was a big job. I'm particularly proud of how the wide, raised sidewalk & entryway came together. How it was before, listing off to one side, really looked bad. Adding the extra screw-piles will give that big landing extra support on the open side where it needs it the most.

I also want to thank you both for stepping back and just letting us get it done as quickly as possible. I know we take up a lot of space with all of our material & equipment but it all went well, and I'm very happy with the result.

I'm glad you appreciate my recommendations. After knowing me for years you know I always want the best for our clients and to do the best possible work.

There's always shortcuts that can be done to get a job done cheaply but typically at the expense of risks of future issues. I'll always explain both options clearly so people truly understand the downside to what other contractors may have recommended and the benefits to doing a little more work, or work done in a slightly different way, in order to improve the outcomes... then let the client desire what's best for them.

I appreciate your business and I'm sure your Aunt appreciates having you involved in taking care of her and her lovely home.

YES.... SHOWING UP is pretty damn important. LOL

So many contractors and business owners lack focus, and because of that they don't really specialize in anything. Yes maybe they can do "everything" but they don't become well known for anything. So they're continually running around ragged trying to take on every job they can and they wind up spreading themselves too thin.

We're extremely focused which allows our efforts to run way smoother than most. We specialize in residential driveway replacement (and associated garage pads, and sidewalks), and similar slab on grade work and that's about it.

Having great people working for us makes my job running the company easier, and gives me the freedom to respond to calls very quickly typically. Having a designated estimator works so well LOL.

Completing high quality concrete work that lasts isn't all that difficult but it does take "Intention". And we always intend on doing as good as possible on every job.

Many concrete contractors are not well informed even though they've been doing it for 10-20 years. Most concrete fails because contractors skip critical steps, then young guys learn those shoddy methods, and continue with the inferior workmanship (then brag I've been doing this for 20 years).

The problems is they never come back to see they failure points of their own work. Typically all we do is replacement work which is why the company name is CONCRETE REPLACEMENT EXPERTS INC.

On every job we see first hand the weak spots that caused the concrete work to fail and the problems are repetitive & consistent. So we perform our work to a higher spec, a higher stand in order to not repeat the original problems.

And I go thru these key points line by line with every single written quote given to a potential client.

Makes it very easy to see why we continue to excel at what we do.

I really wish people would leave their first name so I knew who wrote which review, if any. But Thank-you LOL.

Responding very quickly (typically but not perfect) is something I pride myself on. One of the biggest complaints most homeowners have, when calling contractors, is their slow, or complete lack, of return calls when trying to get a quote.

Most contractors wear too many hats: They're the front line person (responding to calls or not), they're the person with the highest skill-set on the job site which means they have to be on site all day keeping projects moving, then after working on the job all day they have to deal with doing quote, paperwork, etc. So they're continually running ragged.

CONCRETE REPLACEMENT EXPERTS INC is built on a team mentality. I hire great people who have great skills and I let them do their thing. I set the expectations, do the quality control, advise the crew where they slipped, and how they can do better. Constant improvement.

And we stay focused on 1-2 areas of the concrete industry: Residential driveway replacement (including their garage pad, and sidewalk if needed), and other slab on grade work. Which allows us to truly excel at our service & quality workmanship.

Which is why at this point we have won BEST OF CATEGORY with HOMESTARS for concrete contractors in the Edmonton area for the 2020 & 2021 seasons, the first two full seasons we were with them. We'll continue to strive for this quality and look forward to winning again, in the spring of 2023 for the 2022 season.

I'm glad you're very happy with your experience with us and your new concrete work. I'm very fortunate to have attracted a group of guys who are equally excellent at their trade as they are at being damn nice polite young men.

Working within time restraints is something that's very common within the construction industry whether it be working with other trades, other contractors, city street works, or clients schedules... so accommodating our clients timelines is something we're happy to do and will do so willingly.
