Technician (Won) came out to fix my Viking range (oven wouldn't light). There was some confusion over what parts needed to be replaced, but after a week or so the owner (Gary?) called me and told me my unit was subject to a recall and that maybe the recall would include one of those parts.
I called the recall line and Viking sent me parts (only those required to do the recall repair, which makes sense), and told me an authorized service centre could bill Viking for the labour. Won came back, and told me the recall kit was incompatible (did not interface with the control board). I called Viking and they told me Won's explanation makes no sense - the part is a thermostat. I then called Gary, and he was confused that Viking would only send me parts and not provide the labour cost. This is where I found out the hard way that Techvill is NOT an authorized Viking repair centre.
I had an actual authorized Viking technician come out, and he told me the recall part was broken, most likely by Won, who seemingly did not know what he was doing with this kind of range, and that Gary's understanding of the Viking recall was nonsense.
