My fridge died in the condo that I am renting so my landlord fowarded me this website and told me I should contact Modern Appliance. I got a call from Peter the next day after submitting an on-line request and he set up an appointment with me for two days after. Like we had arranged, he called me at work ten minutes prior to him getting to my place that day so I could hop up and meet him: he was right on time.

Peter had the foresight to ask me the make of my fridge and came prepared with some items already in hand as replacements. This strategy worked very well because there was some electrical component not working and with that little piece already in his tool case, he changed that and the fridge was back to being a fridge again.

What impressed me was Peter's patience and knowledge. He knows his work exceptionally well and did not mind me asking him a dozen or so questions. As my landlord was going to reimburse me, Peter insured that the receipt that I was going to give to my landlord did not have my credit card information on it--that was very thoughtful. Should I ever need any future repairs, I am glad that I have his card because he will be the first person that I will contact.

Found Modern in Homestars and Peter was everything the reviews said and better. Based on the info we gave over the phone he thought it might be a more expensive job and had already ordered the $$$ part. When he showed up on the agreed date and time he determined that the problem (water in tub after cycle) involved replacing a less expensive $ part, which he happened to have in his truck. Our machine works perfectly now and for less than we expected. Thanks to Peter, who is a very conscientious and skilled repairman. High marks for excellent work.

I came home on Monday after a weekend away to discover my fridge was working like a cupboard. Unsastified with previous repair people I have had, I went on line to find someone that was local and could do the job. It was after 6PM in the evening when I called and left a message. I was surprised when I heard back that same evening. I had 2 visits to the house; the first to analyze the situation, the second (once the part arrived) to fix the fridge. Both times the arrival time was exactly within the estimated time and the service was excellent. Although the part was not in stock at first, it was available within 2 days and everything is now up and running.

I contacted several companies I found on Homestars to research pricing for a dryer repair. Modern Appliance were the only ones that proactively got back to me and who provided a detailed cost estimate based on expected parts and labour. The work was done on a saturday which was a huge help for me and the repair was done at the time specified with no surprises on cost. Peter was thorough, respectful and very conscietious about neatness and disruption. He was clearly making every effort to make minimal noise. He provided some extra tips and suggestions as well for prolonged use of the dryer. Would not hesitate to recommend him again.

I called Modern appliance based on so many high ratings Peter has received. We recently sold our home (all appliances included) and the oven started working sporadically. I needed someone to get the job done quickly and at a good price so I could get on with packing for the upcoming move. Peter returned my call within minutes, diagnosed the problem over the phone, ordered the part and showed up with 4 days to repair the oven. He was very professional and got the job done in a very timely fashion. The costs were clearly laid out and fair. Peter even advised about the new appliances purchased for my new home and where to steer clear of un-necessary warranties. I would recommend this company to others.

Just wanted to commend Peter for the timeliness and honesty of the services he provided. After assessing the needs to repair our washing machine, he ordered the part and returned the following week to install (once part had arrived) - after installing the washer worked once and then stopped again - Peter came out a second time and informed us that the manufacturer had several problems with this machine and we'd probably have more problems in the futre. Peter recommended purchasing a new machine.

This was the second appliance repair Peter did for us - first one was a gas stove.

Both times he was very professional. We initially called him based on the reviews on homestars and wil not hesitate to recommend or call him in the future should anything else go wrong.

I have no reservations recommending Modern Appliance for repairs. After my 8 year old fridge started making noise and losing cooling ability I called Peter at Modern on a Friday and he got back to me within an hour to set up an appointment on Saturday. When I was explaining the problem he had a suggestion for what the problem could be- and when he arrived on Saturday (at exactly the time we'd agreed) he was exactly right! In fact because a faulty design the drain had frozen causing the fan to stop moving- which didn't require any parts so he just billed me for the service call.
He also gave me some great advice in what to look for in my next fridge when the time comes. Very honest and I will use them again for my next appliance repair.

I highly recommend this company. All aspects of the service provided were perfect. The service provider was pleasant and courteous. He arrived on time, was totally efficent and professional, and the work performed was first rate.

They were an absolute delight-came 4 times and only charged for the major repair. I am impressed and would recommend them highly for effective, professional and ethical service!! They really know what they are doing and don't over charge at all.

The technician provided prompt competent and courteous service. He correctly diagnosed the problem with our dishwasher, repaired it, and ran a test cycle to test the overall performance of the machine, Would call again with any future appliance problems.
