Andrew unearthed his passion for trees during his high school summer vacation job at a local nursery, where he was introduced to all the different trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials. His first experience with nature was a lasting one. After two summers at the nursery he was hired as an Ontario junior ranger with the Ministry of Natural Resources and was stationed in northern Ontario, tasked with maintaining canoe portage trails and tree planting. After graduating from high school, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the green industry. He spent the next three years studying at Humber College graduating with honors in arboriculture (the care of trees) and received an honours diploma in landscape horticulture. He was awarded the Board of Governors' Award, which honours the most accomplished student. From Humber College, Andrew was immediately hired by the City of Toronto and over the next thirteen years he was involved in pruning, removal, planting, fertilizing and inspection of trees in city parks and streets. As part of an select group, he spent six of those years working under contract to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency where he was trained to inspect trees for infestation of the Asian Long Horned Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer. The ReLeaf Group was founded as a part-time business to provide tree care service to private home owners but his exceptional reputation soon grew his business into a full time venture. I am currently a second-year carpentry student at Durham college and go back in September. In college I’ve learned hands-on experience in residential construction with a focus on outdoor structures like decks, fences, and sheds. I also can do framing, renovation, and general carpentry. Through my training in school I’ve developed strong understanding of blueprints, building code, accurate cutting and measuring. I work efficiently and accurately. I am located in Durham region and can travel. I am still learning and I am a very hardworking man. I focus on clean, solid work. I will make sure everything is to a very high standard. I started the trade in my teens. I worked with several installers and used their best methods in my own work. Along with reading manufacturer specifications and discussions with others, made sure that i was informed when working with a new product. Most of my work has been retail residential over the years, but I have also had great success in new home construction as well. I also am proficient installing resilient sheet goods, premium vinyl tiles and planks. Additionally, I am very capable of commercial work in carpet glue downs and carpet tiles, although I prefer smaller projects rather than spending weeks on one site. I started the trade on Vancouver Island, also worked in Winnipeg, then in the Toronto area and southern Ontario. I have recently returned to the Toronto area after working on Vancouver Island again for the past 10 years. My workmanship has been top-notch with no problems. I am fully equipped with the necessary tools, vehicle and supplies to perform successful installations. I am not looking for a full-time prodiction job, but selective smaller installations more appropriate for my age.

Thrust into the construction industry I began working since I was around 12 years old building family homes and working with my uncles. Have always been good with my hands and enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing the results of my skills and diligence at work. Have had a stronger focus on carpentry and virtually anything concrete related over the course of the last 15 years or so. Some of these include separate entrances, basement and bathroom renos/finishes, underpinning, extensions/additions, placing, leveling and finishing different types of concrete aggregates.
