Troy responded very quickly to my post on Homestars. Came by the next morning and inspected my roof: 4 vents chewed by squirrels. Troy thoroughly explained what was needed both to deal with the 4 damaged vents plus the other vents and stacks, and quoted the price. I agreed and he did the work right away & very efficiently. He'll be back in a week to remove the 1-way door he installed and replace the damaged vents. He was efficient, professional, thorough and very friendly as well - a pleasure to deal with!

With no knowledge or experience whatsoever we decided to demolish and rebuild our house. Being completely clueless meant we had to ask dozens of very basic questions at every stage of the process. It also meant that once committed, we had no choice but to have faith in John and Renocorp. 2 years later and I can say without reservation that every single time we gave John the benefit of the doubt, it worked out in our favour. Every. Single. Time. This project started in the immediate aftermath of COVID. There were initial shortages of everything, including labour. Problems with suppliers, drama with subcontractors, complications with existing infrastructure? We were insulated from ALL of it. The only problems our job encountered were relayed to us as humorous anecdotes from inside our perfectly finished house. Wed hire John again, wouldnt bother with a second estimate, and if he were too busy? Wed put the project on hold and wait for him.

I contracted Sunil at Woodline to build a custom home. My experience with Woodline Framing Company was highly unprofessional and frustrating. From the start, Sunil, the contractor, failed to fulfill basic responsibilities. Despite receiving clear instructions multiple times, he printed the WRONG set of construction plans, I had to drop off the correct set despite him having them in his possession, he missed key materials, including a large post and placed expensive orders for incorrectly sized beams, which led to significant delays and additional costs. He assured me that everything was accurate and even copied me on an email to the welder/steel supplier confirming the order, only for me to discover major errors that further stalled the project. Without prior notice or approval, Sunil subcontracted the entire job without disclosing this arrangement upfront. This unexpected subcontracting left me at risk, especially as it became evident that the subcontractors had not been paid. Sunil's approach to managing this project was not only careless but also financially reckless, as he failed to properly manage payments and overcharged me for work that was never completed. Additionally, I communicated to him that I was not to be used as his bank to pay his subcontractors as our agreement had clear milestones. I paid Sunil $23,000 plus taxes, and yet only one-third of the milestone was completed - I agreed, out of good-faith on my part (to pre-pay a milestone that wasn't completed believing he would pay his subcontractors and what he owed them). His lack of accountability and professionalism throughout the project has left me with escalating expenses and significant delays. We both agreed to terminate the contract and that I would work directly with the subcontractors that were doing the work instead. We both agreed to this - only to have him hire a law firm demanding that I pay him the full amount of the contract! What's laughable is that he wouldn't even be entitled to the full amount of the contract given he was subcontracting the whole project and had already been overpaid based on my contract with him - I'm entitled to a refund. Sunil did not know or understand basic framing fundamentals like screwing down posts on a wooden LVL beam. I told Sunil I had spoken to other framers and a builder and you never do that as there's nothing (no thread) to attach the post to the wooden LVL below. Regardless, his solution, was "I do it all the time" - which is a scary thought. Rather than admit he forgot a steel beam, he insisted that I ask my engineer to approve a wooden LVL. This is a nearly 7000 sq ft modern home and he would rather cut corners rather than replace the steel beam which I had to push him to do and fix (his subcontractors were able to swap that out and fix it). My only saving grace was that he agreed to terminate the contract and be out of the picture completely before it cost me more money. If you are looking for a reliable, trustworthy contractor, I would strongly advise against using Woodline Framing Company.

Another excellent job by Mike, Michael and crew. They did a partial basement remodel including framing, drywall, electrical, priming of walls and flooring installation of our basement (approximately 1250 sq ft). They also did attic work with installing bathroom vents to the soffit, bathroom fan to our master bathroom and boxing electrical junctions to prepare for blown insulation. They also helped place a support beam for our upstairs balcony to increase safety of the structure. They did a lot of work across our whole home in a timely and professional manner. Mike was able to work with me to coordinate when the insulation crews were going to come in (we had spray foam in the basement and blown in for the attic) and not waste any time between transitions. We've worked with them before and everyone was courteous, respectful of our busy house and kept everything clean after the day was done. I'm literally running out of house for them to renovate but for sure we will hire them when it's time for our bathrooms and kitchen.

We worked with JD design and build to do our 2 storey renovation. It was a challenging job but they were great to work with. Joe's open and collaborative approach really made things a lot easier for us. He kept us in loop with any changes that came up as we went through, it is a 100 year old home so there were several unexpected challenges. They finished on time, and we're fairly priced. What impressed us most was the service after the job was done, Joe remained responsive and timely in his his responses to any issues that popped up and fixed them promptly and without any hassles. Great guy and a great company I have, and will recommend him.
