If you want a construction experience that is as straight forward and uncomplicated as it can possibly be, choose the TQ team! TQ Construction truly cares about their clients and helping them achieve their goals for their home. The TQ team did my whole home renovation and their Envision, Design, and Build process meant that I was guided and assisted from the time of the first quote to the end of the build and throughout the 2 years of warranty coverage. I originally chose TQ because they were the only renovation company that I felt comfortable with from the original quote. They never said no and instead explained why something might not be achievable and presented alternatives. I also felt comfortable that through construction their team would be considerate of my neighbours, with whom I have good, long-standing relationships. This is why I selected them as my renovation contractor. During the design phase, I was guided through choosing the finishes that would achieve the look I wanted within my budget. I was also shown 3D renderings for key spaces that ensured I was comfortable with what the final result would be. Their design process got me excited and looking forward to the end result. Throughout construction, the Site Supervisor and the team in the office were there to support me when issues and problems arose, guiding me through to achieving a beautifully renovated home that continues to be the space I always wanted and a space that everyone who visits admires. Very fair and did a very good job. The first couple of cuts, everything was going well As of July 15, 2026, my grass is not growing this summer due to weather. I reached out to the owner Joe who told me someone else is now in charge of the scheduling. I wanted to postpone a cut and but was informed by Chris that if I do, my price would double. I have no control over the weather or the time it takes for my grass to grow. Basically, they will charge me whether they cut my lawn or not. Chris argued with me about my lawn and that it was way too long to let it go another week or so. I had a great relationship with the owner Joe. No signed contract for the season, just cuts as needed. He also got him work from my elderly neighbour through my contact with HomeStars. I am still giving a couple of stars as the cuts and maintenance are great. Customer service is AWFUL and I am very disappointed. After reaching out to Joe twice, I have not heard back from him.

I hired Patel Elite Construction Inc mid September to repair my basement, apply waterproof paint to the walls, and install an epoxy membrane on the floor. The initial communication was well handled and Deep, my main post of contact, was very communicative and easy to work with. The initial results appeared great. However, less than 45 days later, the epoxy has started to peal and flake. When I raised this to Deep, he replied that the moisture in the basement is causing this and there is no solution. I find this disappointing because the epoxy coating was his recommendation - if there was a moisture issue, I would have hoped that it was identified BEFORE I paid to have the floor painted. I would not recommend Patel Elite Construction as their recommendations should be heavily questioned.

It did not proceed. The job was a simple recalling of some skylights. I explained the roof was metal and 45 degree slope. You accepted and set a date for the work to be done for $85/hr. I later explained a 20 foot ladder was adequate to access the roof as it had been so accessed by a professional outfit before. Your man arrived with a fold up ladder he said was inadequate. I doubt he intended to do the job. He said he needed another person to do the job and I agreed. I was then informed that an unspecified number of roof anchors costing $295 each were required. I was then informed that a mechanical lift would also be required. My roof has been easily accessed and worked on before without a lift or roof anchors…but the men were experienced professionals. I could not recommend your firm for metal roof work as a result of this experience. Ryan was however a very nice person.

In May 2019, I hired Shubrook Constructions to do landscaping. The company installed a water feature with bubbling rock as part of the landscaping. In July 2020, the pump that was under warranty stopped working. I informed the owner about the pump malfunction on July 6, 2020, and requested that he replace the pump or provide me with the warranty papers. On July 10, 2019, I wrote directly to the pump manufacturer in the UK and copied the owner. The manufacturer asked for the pump purchase information to carry out the proper paperwork to affect a warranty return. The company representative from the Sales and Customer Service noted: "I am unable to replace a pump under warranty without proof of purchase." On August 3, 2019, I followed up with Shubrook Constructions. While the company provides a one-year warranty for their work, the pump was still under warranty. I told the owner that if he could not replace the pump, please provide me with the required papers to get the pump directly from the manufacturer. I received the owner's response that the pump is getting delivered. It should be here within a few weeks. On September I2, 2020, I received another email from the owner about another delivery date. After repeated attempts and follow-ups with the business, the company installed the pump that did not display the bubbling feature I paid the money for. I told the owner I was very dissatisfied. The owner assured me that he would install the same/similar pump. Due to COVID-19, I was very patient with the company. After repeated attempts and emails, on June 15, 2021, the owner indicated that he would install the pump by the end of that week. However, he did not come to install the pump nor inform me that he would not be installing it. On June 21, 2021, I contacted Better Business Bureau (BBB) to resolve the issue. That same day I received a text from Shubrook Construction owner "Got the pump. Will be stopping by tomorrow to install." I informed BBB of the text and that I would withdraw the complaint if he installed the pump. However, the owner did not install the pump. On July 20, 2021, I received a response from BBB: "Your BBB has made several attempts to contact the business regarding the above referenced complaint. We regret to inform you that we have not received a response from the company." I contacted the Canadian Home Builders' Association. They informed me that as "Shubrook Constructions is not a member of the Canadian Home Builders' Association," they could not assist me. After talking with the College of Trades, I contacted Consumer Protection, Ontario. They reviewed my file and assigned a consumer officer from the Consumer Services Operations Division in December 2021. The officer offered a mediation. On December 17, 2021, I received the following response from the consumer officer, and they referred me to legal services: "The ministry may mediate a complaint if the parties agree to mediation. The business named in your complaint does not agree to mediation. Your complaint suggests that there may be evidence of a contravention of consumer law." In summary, Shubrook Constructions: 1) did not replace the pump with the quality that would provide the same bubbling rock feature even though the owner informed me that he has the pump and will install it; 2) did not return the hose that the owner took that I paid for. When I questioned why the owner took the hose with the old pump, I understood that he would replace the entire unit; nor 3) provide me with the warranty papers and the receipt for the pump that the manufacturer required. Fortunately for me, when I contacted the pump manufacturer and explained the situation, the sales and customer service wrote: "Ideally, we would like the pump purchase information so that we can carry out the right paperwork to effect a warranty return for you, but if that is not forthcoming, as a customer of ours with a warranty failure, we will put this right for you." And he sent the pump, free of charge. The company was terrific. However, the pump did not come with the hose. I have learned a lot through this experience. I should have insisted on the warranty papers rather than taking the owner's word for it. Further, I should have contacted BBB to check if the company is BBB accredited. Shubrook Constructions was not BBB accredited - if the business is not an Accredited BBB Business, they are not required to respond to complaints. Also, in the future, I will contact the City of London for any construction work or updates to my home. The city can help consumers understand construction codes (e.g., window well installation). In some cases, an inspector can also do an inspection. Through the College of Trades, one can check what any business is licensed for and isn't. One can contact the Canadian Home Builders' Association for home building information. I have written to local and provincial officials to strengthen construction and landscaping laws. Fortunately for me, the manufacturer demonstrated very high-quality customer service. They replaced the pump without papers and helped me understand what I needed to install it as I no longer had the hose from the old pump.

I am updating my review on Xin Man Landscaping/ Luo to reflect his dishonesty incompetence and disrespect toward women. He did not complete the job he was paid for leaving a gap between the stones and grass all the way down the length of my driveway, leaving behind a minuscule amount of sandstone and directions for me to fill it in myself! The amount he left was barely enough for a foot. 2 weeks later, the unfinished interlock had shifted. I asked him to return to finish the job but apparently he was too busy and insisted if i wanted more material to complete HIS job, i would have to drive down from Newmarket to meet him at 10 pm in Scarborough! I did. He showed up with another almost empty bag of sand stone material knowing full well it would not be sufficient! Again, he insisted that was all he had and i could return again tomorrow for more as if the 90 min commute was no big deal! Bottom line, DO NOT use this man, he is a lier a thief and he does not stand by his work!
