Owner gave us a quote in September to install a hot water rad to our existing rad system, swap out black iron pipes for copper ones, add a gas line for an outdoor bbq, add a hot water line to our washer, etc. Deposit ($3966) was made on September 13th 2022 with an agreement that he would start work on October 12th. On days where work was to be completed, he was a no show with no call to advise he couldn't make it. As of now, there have been 5 days where we stayed home anticipating him showing up and not even getting a courtesy call that he couldn't make it. Have been trying to reach him since to establish an appropriate alternative, only to be delayed further. He is now not answering text messages or calls for the past week despite the last contact stating we'd work something out. At a loss of words at how disappointed we are. We are now looking into legal action to get our deposit returned. Do better, your customers deserve it.

I am satisfied with all aspects of my experience buying and installing a new furnace with Pro Climate. Armando spent a long time at the house figuring out the best, least disruptive way to install the furnace in our finished basement. The pricing was very competitive compared with other quotes that I received. And the actual installation was done in exactly the way that Armando said it would be done. The guys got it done in a reasonable time and left no mess. Great work. I would highly recommend Pro Climate to other people.

Install or replace heating systems- 22 Apr 2026
Home Aire Care is a top notch business with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The team working on my furnace and a/c replacement were both professional and courteous throughout this experience. I felt at ease with the options given from my first in home assessment, through to payment and follow up maintenance guidance from Cheryl in their office. I’ve been extremely satisfied with the outcome; as they had a difficult job to undertake from the start. My new furnace is working wonderfully and I can assume when it’s time to use my new a/c, it will also run smoothly. Highly recommend this business!

Install or replace drainage system- 12 Apr 2026
I was impressed by Vito from first contact online, to meeting him when he arrived to provide an in-person quote and to the completion of the jobs that were done professionally and excellently. He was very knowledgeable and provided a reasonable quote. I arranged this work on behalf of my sister who is recently widowed and trying to find her way without her husband who normally took care of all of the house repairs either personally or by hiring professionals. Vito could not have been more personable and kind. I am very grateful to him and so is my sister. She has already recommended him to her neighbourhood friends. She now has peace of mind that everything is working properly.

Richard came, cleaned furnace, we discussed maintenance. Then he cleaned our central air unit, he spent time cleaning the cooling fins and straigthening them out! Also discussed what I can do between services to keep in good condition. Richard spent the time to talk to me and answer my questions! All really good. Office stayed on top and made sure he was there and any follow ups.

We've had this company to our home since we moved to the town. They installed a furnace just before we bought the home. We have them come each spring and fall for AC and Furnace maintenance. They've also done cleaning and maintenance on our gas fireplace. This time we had the ducts cleaned. I don't believe it had ever been done in this home. Tyson arrived very promptly and explained all that he'd be doing. He got right to work and by noon was finished. What a great guy. Your company is lucky to have him. He's personable, professional, attentive to details and just an all round nice guy. We opted for the Ultimate Package this first time. It is reasonably priced and we believe worth the money. This company is very easy to deal with, they are always prompt and professional regardless of who comes to the house. I have no problem recommending them to anyone who asks who we use. Thank you !

Installation is only one service that a furnace specialist can offer. They provide services for your furnace all throughout its lifecycle.

Here are some of the most common ones:

Furnace installation: Installation of new units.
Furnace replacement: Replacement once repairs are no longer sufficient or to upgrade to a more powerful or energy-efficient system, for example.
Furnace repair services: Changing of filters, general maintenance, and repairing panel or heating issues, including emergency services.

How Much Does Furnace Installation and Replacement Near Me Cost?

Most furnace work is quoted as a flat-rate project rather than hourly. For repairs and service calls, expect an hourly rate of $75–$150, or $140–$210 for emergency/after-hours work, plus a minimum call-out fee of $100–$200.

Here are some typical costs for common furnace services:

Furnace installation costs: $3,000–$9,500+, including the unit and labour; higher end for first-time installs, high-efficiency models, or complex setups
Furnace replacement costs: $4,000–$6,750 on average, including removal of the old unit
Furnace repair services: $80–$2,400+ depending on the part and complexity
Furnace maintenance costs: $70–$250 for a one-time tune-up; $150–$500/year for an ongoing plan

HomeStars tip: Make sure to get everything written down in an itemized quote. This avoids misunderstandings and supports transparency and clear communication for both you and the contractor.

Why You Must Hire a Pro for Furnace Installation?

Since they run on gas, furnace installation and replacement have legal requirements and involve safety risks. For several reasons, including safety and compliance, furnace work should only be handled by a certified professional.

Safety and gas lines: Furnace installation involves gas connections and venting, where mistakes can lead to serious accidents.
Permits and code compliance: Most municipalities require a permit and inspection for furnace work; pros know local building codes and can pull permits on your behalf.
Warranty protection: Many furnace manufacturers void the warranty if the unit isn't installed by a licensed HVAC technician.
Rebates: Government and utility rebates often require professional installation documentation to qualify.

Hiring a pro to help you with your furnace project protects you from risk and supports compliance, all while saving you time and avoiding stress. Post your project on HomeStars now to find the help you need.

What to Ask Before You Hire a Furnace Installation Pro Near You

When choosing a local furnace installation pro, asking the right questions can help you make an informed decision before hiring.

Here are five questions worth asking any furnace pro before you commit:

Do you carry liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage?

This protects you if something goes wrong during the job or a worker is injured on your property. Don’t hesitate to ask for proof.

Will you handle permits?

Furnace work generally requires a permit since it involves gas lines. Some contractors include this as part of the job, while others don't.

Confirm upfront who handles permits and, if the contractor handles it, whether it’s included in the quote or a separate charge.

Can you recommend a model?

A good furnace installation pro can match a unit to your home's size, existing infrastructure, and budget, rather than simply selling you whatever they have in stock.

How should I prepare before you arrive?

Ask what's expected of you ahead of time, whether that's clearing the work area, securing pets, or shutting off utilities.

Do you offer a written warranty, and what does it cover?

Make sure you understand the difference between the manufacturer's equipment warranty and the contractor's labour warranty, and how long each one lasts.

FAQs:Questions on Furnace Installation and Replacement Answered

How do I find a professional who can do furnace installation near me?

Start by reading verified reviews from homeowners in your area. HomeStars makes it easy to compare furnace installers near you, see their past work, and read ratings from real customers.

How does a furnace compare to other heating systems?

Furnaces are a popular choice for their ability to quickly provide consistent warmth, their high degree of compatibility with central air conditioning systems, and their cost-efficiency. Other systems, such as boilers or heat pumps, have a higher upfront cost, are generally more energy-efficient and provide more evenly distributed warmth.

What's the difference between a single-stage, two-stage, and variable-speed furnace?

Single-stage furnaces run at full blast or not at all, while two-stage models can operate at a lower setting for milder days, improving efficiency and comfort. Variable-speed furnaces offer the most precise control, adjusting output continuously to maintain a consistent temperature. They cost more upfront but tend to deliver lower energy bills and quieter operation over time.

How long does a furnace installation take?

Most furnace installations take four to eight hours, though more complex jobs involving ductwork modifications or first-time installs can take longer. Your contractor should give you a realistic timeframe when they provide the quote.

How do I know when to repair vs. replace my furnace?

A common rule of thumb is that if the repair cost exceeds 50% of what a new unit would cost, replacement is usually the better investment. Age is also a factor; most furnaces have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, so an older unit with recurring issues is often worth replacing rather than patching.

How often should a furnace be serviced?

Most manufacturers and HVAC professionals recommend an annual tune-up, ideally in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance helps catch small issues before they become costly repairs and keeps the unit running efficiently throughout the winter. HomeStars can help you find furnace pros who can perform regular maintenance on your unit.
