GE appliances recommended Kirk to replace the glass stovetop on our induction oven. My wife paid for the work, by VISA, ($624.56) but when we were e-mailed the receipt, it was for $489.04. When contacted he stated the extra charge of $135.52 was for labour. When he was informed that the GE receipt for $489.04 included labour and all taxes he then changed his story and stated that "they" were having billing issues and "it would be adjusted this week". As expected, we never heard from him again and he won't return calls or e-mails. Avoid Smart-Tech Appliance Service - this individual has no moral compass and does not care about ripping-off seniors.

Was given a low range quote and a high range quote for a fairly simple job. He came and we found out the job wasn't possible. That was fine. What was less fine is that he still charged the high range quote. Edit: After the original review Ali reached out and refunded $45. There was some miscommunication but overall his service was good and I would recommend him.

General contractor service- 2 Jun 2026
On May 7, 2026, we hired Eric Morneau of Morneau Construction to repair a support issue involving our front pillar, which had begun settling on one side. We paid a 60% deposit by e-transfer as requested, with the understanding that it would be used for materials, project scheduling, and site preparation. Eric Morneau emphasized the urgency of the situation and stated in the contract: “The work must be carried out as soon as possible, as the situation is very dangerous at the moment.” The attached image shows the condition of the pillar at the time. Despite these representations, no work commenced and no scheduling information was provided. After 11 days without progress, we cancelled the contract on May 18, 2026 and requested a refund. On May 22, 2026, Eric Morneau acknowledged the cancellation and confirmed by email that the refund would be issued by May 25, 2026. As of June 2, 2026, the refund remains outstanding despite that written commitment. This is unprofessional & disappointing

Cobblestonembers did a great job overall — the crew that came out was professional, efficient, and left the area clean. However, I was disappointed with the pricing process. The initial quote was lower than others, which was part of why I chose them, but once the job was completed, the cost was revised and ended up being higher than other quotes I received. They based their original quote on photos sent through Homestar, while other contractors visited the site in person. After starting the work, they claimed the chimney removal was more extensive than expected and added extra charges, including the removal of a brick veneer wall that wasn’t visible in the pictures. While the workmanship was good, I would recommend getting an on-site quote to avoid unexpected price increases.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Charlie and his team. We are working through a process of addressing some deficiencies in our home, while also upgrading our home systems to natural gas. This project requires collaboration, experience, planning and good insight. Charlie is easy to communicate with, immediately addressing several issues that are outstanding in our home. He is thorough and informative, submitting a quick, fair quote and subsequent installation of phase one of our big undertaking. Our home now has great air quality from an HRV system upgrade to mitigate humidity, and we are looking forward to working with Charlie again to have the gas line converted from propane and exhaust installed in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry.

Our furnace exhaust smelled of propane (ultimately a cracked heat exchanger) but when we explained the problem, technicians arrived and diagnosed the problem quickly. Spencer and his crew just finished a job replacing Poly B piping in our yard and on our main floor. His quotation was right in the middle of the other two quotations; he was prompt with bookings and answering questions; they showed up on time; were very professional, communicative and tidy. He went out of his way to contact the City as he had a concern the City might have a leak near the water meter and he followed up the next day to make sure the issue was resolved. eating Ninja Review This is way overdue, but we had to share our great experience. In February of 2021, one of the coldest months on record in Calgary, our furnace died. Luckily, we are Matt's neighbours, and I knew he dealt with these sorts of things, so I reached out. They were very busy at that time given the circumstances, but he made time to come by immediately. In addition, despite the fact that our furnace was essentially destroyed from a slow leak, he got it working for the rest of winter that day -- and he followed up to make sure we were good. Fast forward to November 2021, and as anticipated, too much damage had been done. We needed a new one. Throughout the process, I consulted Matt. Even though we did not have a solid plan of how to proceed, he was always available to support and even to come by and take a look. It made our decision to go with The Heating Ninja for a furnace replacement a no-brainer. We knew we were dealing with good people who were highly qualified and professional, and we got a very reasonable price based on what we saw on the market -- and we did our homework. We want to say thank you to Matt and his team for their excellent work. I highly recommend Matt and The Heating Ninja to anyone who has heating and cooling needs!
