In Alberta im a certified crane operator. Math is my strong suit. Staying in the contracting field so I can be home with the family. Flooring is my preferred work…

  They needed a lot of babysitting. It started great. They showed up right away and got started, they were eager to do a good job. But then they would tell me they were coming back at a certain time and they wouldn’t show. I would text them at the end of the day and they would tell me they were on their way. They worked from 12-2 in the morning to finish the job I had explicitly told them I needed done two days before (and they said they could do it). And then the job wasn’t great because they were rushed and didn’t have the right products. They also left their pee bottle, and a beer can behind and unhooked my smoke detector (I’m assuming because they were smoking inside). The job got done and I’m mostly happy with their work laying the flooring but I’m less satisfied with the stairs because they were rushing at the end. I’m not sure it would have got done at all if I wasn’t constantly checking in.

  Communication was good. Showed up everyday only for about 6hrs/day Mud job is not very well done and uneven I will end up re sanding and applying more mud to make seams flat before I can paint. Cleanup was good and was careful to not get primer on finished surfaces

  I hired Patel Elite Construction Inc mid September to repair my basement, apply waterproof paint to the walls, and install an epoxy membrane on the floor. The initial communication was well handled and Deep, my main post of contact, was very communicative and easy to work with. The initial results appeared great. However, less than 45 days later, the epoxy has started to peal and flake. When I raised this to Deep, he replied that the moisture in the basement is causing this and there is no solution. I find this disappointing because the epoxy coating was his recommendation - if there was a moisture issue, I would have hoped that it was identified BEFORE I paid to have the floor painted. I would not recommend Patel Elite Construction as their recommendations should be heavily questioned.

  I trained in Germany as a painter, I’ve been painting ever since, I pay great attention to detail and preparation and take pride in my work, after that many years of painting, I still like my trade, I am personable, clean cut, and professional and I work well with other trades, since it is a midsize company you will get me on the job from start to finish. I specialize in custom painting and spraying and work closely with interior designers,I also do commercial projects. Paint stores like Walls Alive and Benjamin Moore refer my company to costumers.

  NO. I expect after leaving this review that Michael will remove his profile but I'm doing it anyway. Michael did an ok job on painting the walls and ceiling of my primary bedroom (DONT LOOK CLOSELY) but he trashed my house. I took almost 40 pictures of splashes of paint on my floors, my white quartz, light fixtures and switches. I had the walls painted blue and there are multiple spots that are white. There are HUGE drips in multiple places. Michael will tell you he has been painting for 40 years which may be true but he clearly cannot see (or something) to do a neat job anymore. I have black paint seeping from baseboards into my pale floorboards. And his quote came in at more than twice the others. I regret hiring Michael. He gave me a small compensation back (after I asked) which doesn't cover the cost to have his work completely redone on one wall.

  Terrible handyman, not licensed in any trade for home renos. Had to FIRE him the next morning for incompetent mistakes, poor workmanship on carpentry finishing hack. Ali walked out on our job, after only completing 5 hrs on the simplest part of our bathroom reno project. Ali extorted $1,000. from us on the 1st day of our reno job as a deposit, he would not refund us this even 50 % after being Fired on the Plumbing part of the reno to connect a brand New 60 inch Shower. A conman do not hire this person, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID... Ali Hassan contracting and hire a certified professional.

  In May 2019, I hired Shubrook Constructions to do landscaping. The company installed a water feature with bubbling rock as part of the landscaping. In July 2020, the pump that was under warranty stopped working. I informed the owner about the pump malfunction on July 6, 2020, and requested that he replace the pump or provide me with the warranty papers. On July 10, 2019, I wrote directly to the pump manufacturer in the UK and copied the owner. The manufacturer asked for the pump purchase information to carry out the proper paperwork to affect a warranty return. The company representative from the Sales and Customer Service noted: "I am unable to replace a pump under warranty without proof of purchase." On August 3, 2019, I followed up with Shubrook Constructions. While the company provides a one-year warranty for their work, the pump was still under warranty. I told the owner that if he could not replace the pump, please provide me with the required papers to get the pump directly from the manufacturer. I received the owner's response that the pump is getting delivered. It should be here within a few weeks. On September I2, 2020, I received another email from the owner about another delivery date. After repeated attempts and follow-ups with the business, the company installed the pump that did not display the bubbling feature I paid the money for. I told the owner I was very dissatisfied. The owner assured me that he would install the same/similar pump. Due to COVID-19, I was very patient with the company. After repeated attempts and emails, on June 15, 2021, the owner indicated that he would install the pump by the end of that week. However, he did not come to install the pump nor inform me that he would not be installing it. On June 21, 2021, I contacted Better Business Bureau (BBB) to resolve the issue. That same day I received a text from Shubrook Construction owner "Got the pump. Will be stopping by tomorrow to install." I informed BBB of the text and that I would withdraw the complaint if he installed the pump. However, the owner did not install the pump. On July 20, 2021, I received a response from BBB: "Your BBB has made several attempts to contact the business regarding the above referenced complaint. We regret to inform you that we have not received a response from the company." I contacted the Canadian Home Builders' Association. They informed me that as "Shubrook Constructions is not a member of the Canadian Home Builders' Association," they could not assist me. After talking with the College of Trades, I contacted Consumer Protection, Ontario. They reviewed my file and assigned a consumer officer from the Consumer Services Operations Division in December 2021. The officer offered a mediation. On December 17, 2021, I received the following response from the consumer officer, and they referred me to legal services: "The ministry may mediate a complaint if the parties agree to mediation. The business named in your complaint does not agree to mediation. Your complaint suggests that there may be evidence of a contravention of consumer law." In summary, Shubrook Constructions: 1) did not replace the pump with the quality that would provide the same bubbling rock feature even though the owner informed me that he has the pump and will install it; 2) did not return the hose that the owner took that I paid for. When I questioned why the owner took the hose with the old pump, I understood that he would replace the entire unit; nor 3) provide me with the warranty papers and the receipt for the pump that the manufacturer required. Fortunately for me, when I contacted the pump manufacturer and explained the situation, the sales and customer service wrote: "Ideally, we would like the pump purchase information so that we can carry out the right paperwork to effect a warranty return for you, but if that is not forthcoming, as a customer of ours with a warranty failure, we will put this right for you." And he sent the pump, free of charge. The company was terrific. However, the pump did not come with the hose. I have learned a lot through this experience. I should have insisted on the warranty papers rather than taking the owner's word for it. Further, I should have contacted BBB to check if the company is BBB accredited. Shubrook Constructions was not BBB accredited - if the business is not an Accredited BBB Business, they are not required to respond to complaints. Also, in the future, I will contact the City of London for any construction work or updates to my home. The city can help consumers understand construction codes (e.g., window well installation). In some cases, an inspector can also do an inspection. Through the College of Trades, one can check what any business is licensed for and isn't. One can contact the Canadian Home Builders' Association for home building information. I have written to local and provincial officials to strengthen construction and landscaping laws. Fortunately for me, the manufacturer demonstrated very high-quality customer service. They replaced the pump without papers and helped me understand what I needed to install it as I no longer had the hose from the old pump.

  We hired Right Home Decor to install our curtains. It has now been a month, and the job is still not completed. On the first day, I paid him in full, even though the work was not finished. He agreed to return another day to complete it. When he came back on the second day, we realized that one of the materials was not compatible. We agreed that once I got the correct material, he would come and complete the installation when he was available. I later got the right material and reached out to him. He agreed to come the following week. On the agreed day, I waited for him, but he never showed up. He also didn’t reach out to inform me; I was the one who had to follow up. He then told me he was out of town — this was after I had been waiting for him. He promised to come the next day or, at the latest, the following week. However, the week passed without any communication from him. Again, I had to follow up, and he said he would come in two or three days. My Master room window is just bare
