As the owner of the company, Shawn De Taeye was trained by his father in basement waterproofing and general construction and went on to become a certified carpenter. His father, Rudy, operated his business for decades with the philosophy of providing excellent customer service and operating with a high ethical standard. Unfortunately, his father passed away in 2014, but the lessons Shawn was taught by his father still guide how he operates his business to this day. The company began as a waterproofing company; however, there was also a demand for general construction as well. Given Shawn’s experience in carpentry, the business expanded into a construction division as well.

*Core Joinery & Woodworking Skills* - *Mortise & Tenon Joinery*: The backbone of solid woodworking. I use traditional mortise & tenon connections for tables, sofas, and stools to prevent wobble and failure over time - *Log Fitting & Scribing*: For log sofas and beams, I hand-scribe and fit each log for tight, gap-free joints that add strength and visual flow - *Through-Dowel & Wedged Joints*: Exposed joinery that locks pieces together mechanically. Strong and beautiful - *Material Matching*: I select hemlock, cedar, and pine based on grain orientation and strength for each joint, so wood movement works _with_ the design - *Hand-Finished Details*: Each joint is cleaned up by hand for a refined look without losing rustic character *Why Homeowners Choose My Joinery* 1. *Built for Cottages*: Proper joinery means your timber won’t loosen up from temperature swings or humidity 2. *No Shortcuts*: I don’t rely on brackets or fasteners to hold weight. The wood itself does the work 3. *Repairable & Heirloom Quality*: Traditional joints can be maintained and will outlast most factory furniture

My work is carried out with a high level of attention to detail and professionalism, always conforming to the ontario gas code. Due to my high level of construction and renovation knowledge i have gathered over the years working with my dad who is now a retired general contractor, I’ve decided to incorporate this into my business. I have 3 years of concrete wall forming + finishing experience which allows me to produce high quality concrete projects, as well as concrete cutting for basement windows and doors. I am skilled in interior finishing such as drywall, paint, trim + finish carpentry etc, as well as larger renovation projects such as complete kitchen/bath renovations, fencing, decks, as well as complete legal basement apartment construction. Throughout my time living in the GTA and Peterborough, I have acquired a variety of trustworthy contacts that can complete jobs I don’t have the necessary skills for.
