Everton was hired to tile our bathroom and hang two doors. We arranged the time to have the work done and he came on time and did the tiling. It looked fine except he had not raised the sink enough si it was visibly lower at he back than at the front. He coud not do the doors because my husband had not cut them to size as agreed. I felt bad because he came pepared to do the doors and we had not done our part so I paid him for everything including the door work. We arranged fo him to come back the following week to hang the doors.. I xalled him repeatedly to make arrangements to hang the door and there never seemed to be a good time. In the mean time we noticed moistue around the sink whee the tiles had been laid. At first we thought it was my daughter not being careful but after three weeks the tiles lifted. We called Everton right away to come and figure out what had happened. He ageed to come the next day in the afternoon. However, my husband trouble shooted the issue and found out that Everton had left a connection loose becuase instead of replacing the original connector with a flexible one he used the original fixedconnector which no longer fit properly at the new height, Since my husband was able to relace the hose and stop the leak I no longer wanted to take a day off to meet him so I rescheduled the appointment for a the following week at 4. He did not call and did not show up. I called him the following day and asked set up another date again he did not show up and did not call. I have caled and texted him over a dozen times - he clearly has no intnetion of repairing the floor or hanging the door. Since the original work was done I lost my job and explained to him that I could not afford to hhave the work redone by someone else . The only time he responded to any of my texts was once to let me know he was out of town. At this point all I wanted back was the money I paid him to hang the door which he did not do. The last text message I sent to him was last week and I guess he must be in town because I have not received a response. His work reflects his pice but he he does not stand behind it so any guarantee he provides is worthless.

Barb is a licenced carpenter who before moving to Toronto had her own company in Ottawa - Jane of All Trades. Barb installed two exterior doors for us. She completely rebuilt both frames. Our house is 100 year old house so nothing is ever true and square but after she was finished the doors fit perfectly. We also had her install two half glass doors in our living room. She pays attention to detail. The moulding around the doors match those of the rest of the house as if they were always there. We asked her to attach the old fashioned door hardware that we purchased from Habitat for Humanity - it looks great. She is the third contractor (the first guy hung them the wrong way and the second guy took our money and did not finish the job to our satisfaction) to attempt hanging these doors and was the only one willing to install the hardware we wanted. She takes pride in her work and it shows. Barb also built a window seat in our living room bay windows. We were very pleased with her work here as well. The baseboard she reattached to the front makes the seat look like it was original to the house. Barb listens and is very detailed oriented. She cares about the way things look and discusses options with you before, during and after the project is completed. I have already scheduled Barb for a mini bathroom renovation, followed by a kitchen revamp. Barb prices are reasonable and her work is superb.

We found Jason on Homestars and were impressed with the fact that he had received a good recommendation from the gentleman that had done a hime audit on out home. We had to repair plaster work resukting from the holes made during an electrical update from knob and tube. Originally, we had planned to only have the holes fixed. Jason convinced us to also smooth over the popcorn ceiling. Jason arived on time and worked everyday until the project was finished. The ceiling and walls looked fantastic. Jason took real pride in his work and it showed.

George was hard to contact by phone but once we made contact he was very professional. Most of our communication was by e-mail which I liked bacause it gave me a good paper trail. He was very comfortable dealing with a woman. He came back to do a second estimate even though I had forgotten about our fist appointment and my husband sent him away. It was very clear that he knew what he was doing. We talked about some of the difficulties that he would encounter and he advised how he would handle. George provided a very reasonable quote in a timely manner, advised us when payments would be expected, came on time with one or two other others, as required. He cleaned up after himself each evening and arranged the permit and inspection. I especially like the fact that when he needed to come back to finish off some littler things he came back promptly. He wanted to finish things off as much as we did so he could move on to his next job.

I had been looking into having a synthetic slate roof installed on our home for over a year. I had done lots of research on the internet. Most contractors that I had spoke to either knew nothing of the products or tried to dissuade me from going in this direction. Geoff of CST roofing was referred to me by on of the distributors just as I was about to give up on my dream. Geoff was the first contractor who I could actually have a conversation with on the topic. He knew the pros and cons of the different products. Except for the delayed start of the project due to backorder problems with the distributor our project was completed within the timeframe and cost agreed upon. Everything was hand nailed and looks beautiful.
