We used Toronto Tub & Tiles Refinishing in July 2008 to refinish a tub. They were pricey, charging $603.74 ($125.00 to strip, $449.99 to reglaze only the inside + tax). It would have been less expensive to purchase a new clawfoot tub! When the tub started peeling 3 years later, they would not honour what was supposed to be a 5 year warranty.

Company Response

Common situation with rental properties is that the owner does not notify there tenant that the bathtub has been refinished. The tenant is now unaware of how to maintain a refinished bathtub & decides to use a suction cup rubbermat. We did attend to this warranty issue. As we arrived the tenant had removed the mat & indicated where the peeling had started. After accessing the issue the conclusion was the warranty will be voided due to customer damage. On our company invoice it is clearly printed " any damages created by suction cup rubber mats will be voided" in this case this was the situation. Every refinishing company will provide the care instructions on how to maintain a refinished bathtub. Follow the instructions & the tub shall last many years. If a product fails for any reason it usually happens right away. Not 3 years after like in this case?
